Success from media buying?

I know plenty of you are using Google PPC and yahoo and such, many of you are even killing it with ppc. But, i wanted to know how many of you out there are using media buys to promote cpa offers.

I know it can be a lot cheaper to start off with media buying as compared to PPC. Can you guys who are successful with media buying give me a few pointers as to where i should start if i'm interested in media buying? Thanks

    Hahaha.. Who taught you that? You can easily lose your ass easier starting off with media buying than you would doing PPC at Facebook or PoF.

    I found out that media buying is pretty poor in conversion and end up costing you more in long run.

        Do you buy your media traffic with big network or directly with website owner? For me, adwords convert at much better rate.

          i know people who are making up to 5 figures a day profit through media buying,so it works but you have to know what your cpa is,how much it costs to aquire your customer,once you know this you can then scale big but you have to test your ads,lander & offer first.

    thanks mtmjohn that was actually very helpful. I now realize that PPC is much easier to have cpa offers that convert. I wish i had the money to set up campaigns with google adwords =/.

    If you're going to do it and don't have much experience, do small direct to site buys on flat rates. No, the volume won't be crazy but it's a low risk way of doing it. Cheaper than PPC for the most part too this way.

    When you're ready to go big, it's primarily CPM bidding, so use the lower risk channels to become a click through rate God.

    So in that respect "media buys" are cheaper than PPC often. The term media buys is misused a lot, you probably mean banner buys.

    After you do that, or you have a big budget and know-how, then go direct to site via high volume sites paying CPM. Far more risk, insertion orders, minimums, etc etc.... It's all traffic and it's all good, question is, who's the market and what do they want?

    Media Buying costs a LOT more upfront to "test the waters". Most media agencies sell you inventory on a CPM basis which sucks. However, a clever way of doing it is to buy ad space on smaller sites for a fixed fee per month. Just contact the owner directly and haggle out a deal, thats what I always do.
