        Yes, it sounds strange... 500K should be enough to make you rich pretty quickly. Unless you bought these emails and people haven't actually asked to receive information from you. In this case, you will be spamming, which is illegal. You and your client may get in troubles if you start spamming emails.

        But assuming that your list is legit, the first thing you need is an autoresponder. You could use a self-hosted one, but it would be a disaster. First, you would need your own server, since hosting companies won't allow you to send more than a few hundred emails per hour. However, even with your own server you would have serious deliverability problems. So, the best you can do is contact Amember, iContact or GetResponse and explain to them how you built your list (you will need to show proof, since you have a huge list). If they consider that your list is legit they may allow you to upload it to their system. Then you can use a professional autoresponder to fire up the email campaigns.

        When sending an email campaign you will need to use the supression file supplied by the merchant. If your client has done email marketing before he probably has a supression file with the emails of people who asked to stop receiving information about his product. Pick the suppression file and apply to your list so that you won't send the campaign to those people.

        Basically, that's it. Of course, you will have more work to structure a decent campaign with such a huge list, but the tech stuff would be this.

    He's probably got a list he downloaded somewhere. Anyways, for the sake of helping someone else...

    Go sign up for an email marketing program like aweber, icontact, constantcontact, getresponse, etc. and do it there. They can handle big lists with no server issues, as well as making sure it hits the inbox.

    You could get an email marketing client on your own server but this is only usually a good idea if you have a smaller, more manageable list.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the help guys, let me clarify a bit here;

    Me and one of my partners own a couple of co-reg paths where people opt in for information on various offers. The privacy policy states that they may be contacted via email from us or other third party vendors.
