That is a very expensive niche to go into with ppc. I would suggest you pick up a really good guide from a WSO to help you understand ppc first. PPC can cost you a lot of money with no return if you do not know what you are doing, however, with good knowledge it can make you a lot of money as well.

PPC through google has gotten a lot harder than a few years back, due to higher bid competition and goolge standards, good affiliate marketers have a value per new customer they compare the conversion costs to, MLM leads may be a bit tough to quantify.

I see sales page click through rates of 1 in 50 to 200 visits commonly cited.

What if it takes 100, 40 cent clicks to secure a solid lead, worth $40?

(You can tell I'm guessing about MLM)

(people seem to get higher conversion rates in mailing list opt in pages than sales pages)

These days the quality score can have a big effect on your click costs, match landing page text to ad copy and keywords, and make the page a service to the customer from google's point of view.

The effectiveness is not really related to whether you use google, yahoo, msn, or other ppc search engines. It really has more to do with the keywords you choose, the budget you pick, how you bid, and how well whatever it is you are promoting will convert to sales and profits.

Many very successful MLM-ers have found it barely helpful at all, in the long term, for MLM.

That's not anything to do with the fact that it's specifically PPC: it's simply because it leads to sponsoring people online rather than offline.

It's generally much easier to sponsor people online than offline, but it's also easier for others to sponsor them after you, into the next "hot, new, ground-floor opportunity", so it's very difficult to retain them. You can sign them up easily enough, with persistence and by knowing what you're doing, but having them still there a year later and growing your business for you is a whole different matter. And without that, there's little point. The learning-curve is long and steep, and the teaching usually done by people who are themselves only part-way along it.

This article from the blog of a hugely successful MLM expert and company trainer may interest you.

"My belief is that internet leads who do express interest in a home-based business opportunity have usually expressed interest in many, over long periods of time, and the reality is that they're very high risk for continuing to do so after you put your time/effort/energy into getting them started in your business." A sobering thought, indeed.

thanks Alexa i think that is a very good point you make about retaining your prospects. We hear a lot about attracting and signing up prospects but what good is that when they leave after a few months!//How will your business grow?

What strategy do YOU follow in retaining your prospects?

Exactly. You must understand its advantages and disadvantages first before you push through with what you had planned.
