I'm having an issue with Facebook.

I set up a pretty broad campaign for the US, the total audience according to facebook was around 2.500.000 people. I bid pretty high, at 0.50 CPM.

So.. I was obviously expecting a lot of traffic.

Well.. for the whole day, I got around 350.000 impressions, I expected much more than this.
My CPM wasn't the problem, FB wasn't charging nearly as much as I bid, the average CPM was .10-.12 even though I bid .50

So, what's the deal? Am I going too broad, and facebook is placing more tightly targeted campaigns in front of mine.

whats your budget and whats your daily spend limit?

I tend to find facebook will usually spend your money, however if your just starting out you may be capped at $100 a day, I forget the exact amount its been a while might even be $50.

Plus there is no way of just setting campaigns to run at certain times so usually you will find they spend your money before midnight.

    Hope this helps

      Thanks for the info.

I'm capped at $50 currently as you guessed. But that shouldn't limit the pace on which traffic is coming

Is it possible that FB is pacing it, meaning, is not trying to give me as much traffic as possible, but it gradually spends the money, so that the $50 limit is spent throughout the whole day, rather than spending it all in an hor?

That's exactly what it does. Facebook will pace it throughout the day. If you set your budget to $200 a day, it may only spend $100 by the afternoon but you can sure bet that by midnight it will spend the rest of the $200 you set.

If you're looking to get the traffic faster, you have to increase your daily spend. Other than that, they will balance your spend so it's evenly distributed throughout the day.

For example, one day I had my budget set to $250 a day. Throughout that day it slowly gave me traffic, up until midnight is when I finally reached my 250 cap for the day. The next day at 12:04 (within 4 minutes of the new day) facebook sent me $80 worth of traffic. IN 4 MINUTES! It was amazing, but after that it stopped for a few hours, and then once again evenly distributed the rest of the budget up until midnight.

    Hi

You got 350,000 impressions, what about clicks? what about the average CPC? what about about your ROI?

I don't want you to answer these questions here but to yourself.

If you find this campaign really profitable for you, go ahead and leverage everything to get more clicks and more leads.

I mean by leverage to increase your daily budget, keywords, more related keywords, then test, test and test.

Of course.. the ROI is the most important bit, and of course I'm focusing on everything that you listed. The offer I'm running works well on this broad demographic, and I tested over a 100 ads to get the best performer. That's why I ran it this broad, and managed to pull out a ROI, I'm in the process of tweaking it

But the problem is, I'm having a hard time getting traffic. I'm getting 350.000 impressions from 2.500.000 people.

I want more traffic, simple as that. I'd like to know whether it is normal to be getting this little traffic, and whether my daily cap of $50 from FB is causing it.

Only you can answer your question, how?

1- Increase your budget from $50 to only $60
        2- Add more related keywords.

Sure you'll get more impressions and clicks, but how much? I don't know.

        You can tell!

          1. I tried increasing it to even more. Didn't make much difference

2.The thing is, I was just targeting the age group, gender, and region I'm after.
I wasn't targeting any keywords. Basically, I tried to target the demographic that I wanted to reach, without being too specific by going into keywords, I did this in order to get as much traffic as possible.

So, the issue here isn't the way I construct my campaign, but how to get bigger amounts of traffic.

OK, please note that in FB, some niches get huuuge clicks, but others get too less. It mainly depends upon the nature of your niche.

But, You can do the following:

1- Keep your current campaign as it is, since it is running OK.
2- Build another new campaign (for the same offer/niche) using more keywords, and more targeting.
3- Try to change the ads and ad graphics gradually.

            Let us see the results.

Thanks for the advice Hilal. I did #2 and it is working out well.

Here's that happened today, I had my campaign paused for the night, and when I woke up, I resumed it. 30 minutes later, I have around 130.000 impressions (in just 20 minutes). So I was happy with that.

However, it's been like 4 hours after I resumed the campaign, and I've only gotten around 120.000 more impressions. What I'm saying is, I got more than 50% of the traffic in the first 30 minutes, and in the next few hours I got less traffic then I did in the first 30 mins.

So what's the deal, is this normal? How can I keep traffic flowing on a high rate.
