How to make CPA work with massive untargetted traffic?

5 replies
Hi, I'm working for a company that wants to increase income by accepting external advertisers and selling ads per cpm, but we're also looking into adding cpa offers. I've tried a couple of CPAs but I'm not getting great results. The site has about 500k views/day from 30-35k unqiues. The site is a classifieds site.

How would you go forth trying to find good converting offers. Also, I can't run zip/submit offers due to company rules. Is the only way just to do massive splittesting in every category to try and find offers that convert?

    Massive split testing is going to be your best solution.

    Pick 10 offers and rotate them.

    Pick stuff you don't think will work, (I find those usually work best!)

    You ever tried something like this with the amount of traffic? No idea what to expect as results here. All I know is that the visitors are in buymode and looking for good offers so I should be able to cash on that.

      Funnel them Jeff until they become targeted and be creative on how you do it.

    pick out a few offers that appeals to the mass;
    groupon, email/zip submits, mobile offers, etc

    if its a buy sell site, you could try targeted amazon products as well ... you just need to test the traffic out with a wide range of traffic, then go deep once you find converting offers

      Untargeted is very frustrating in my experience. Even split testing doesn't work very well because your market is constantly changing. Some might want health stuff, others investing offers, others travel, etc. It constantly changes.

      Split testing works with a targeted market because you find their hidden desires that most of the market has in common then roll with that.

      See what I mean.

      It doesn't mean it wont work. Just be ready for some frustration and ups and downs.
