How much money can be made with 100% free traffic SEO to a simple information blog?

My blog is Ring Of Poker

I have had the blog active for 6 months and am yet to make a penny! I have a new mentor who has given me great tips and I am going to start "keyword research and SEO"

My question is what type of money can actually be made with a blog like this? and what time frames

I understand this must be a estimate just trying to get inputs.

Well, if you have good traffic, you can make some money.
Your niche is very competitive, but at the same time it is very lucrative.
How much exactly? I can't answer. Maybe $300-$400 a month, maybe more. It depends.

      How much do they pay?

How many clicks are they getting?

What % of that is converting?

It would be impossible for anyone here to tell you that you're going to make without knowing specific details that I would not disclose.

It wouldn't be hard for you to figure it out.

average # of clicks X conversion rate X CPA rate X days in month

100 people day click, 5 fulfill offer, offer pays $10, 30 days in the month
You just made $1500 before expenses.

Do you want to make more? Get more clicks, a higher conversion rate, and a higher paying offer. Can't help you with the days in the month.

You aren't making anything right now, so change things up. 6 months is plenty of time for it to take off if you've gotten the word out.

I didn't spend much time on your site because I have no interest in poker, but ask yourself this. If you didn't build the site, would you spend time on it? It might sound dumb, but if the site isn't good enough to hold your interest (I'm assuming that you have an interest in poker) then who do you expect to use it?

Great input Ryan. I'm actually a pretty big poker fan, and that site definitely could keep a user's interest, but that's always a question you should ask yourself: "How valuable is the content you are providing the end user?" If it's not that valuable then the user will probably try to find the content somewhere else. But if it's some sort of "must have" content, then they'll most likely fill out an offer to check out your site.

          Best of luck to you!

First thing I'd like to say is great blog design, it looks fantastic and along the same stylings of many blogs and news sites in this niche.

As another warrior said Poker is an extremely competitive niche with thousands of sites and affiliates out there offering similar bonusses and incentives to join sites. It will be extremely tough to get a piece of the market but if you can it will be extremely lucrative for you.

You will have to come at it from a different angle I believe though, right now it is set up as a news site and therefore will generally attract viewers who have an active interest in poker and will already be members of the sites you are promoting.

Try gathering your own sign ups with an incentive of a free "how to win at online poker" ebook/video.audio and promote offers to that list.

Also make sure the content is fully up to date and prrof read, I noticed a spelling mistake instantly in one of the main stories

"Phil Ivey is a dominate poker player who continues to "wow" his fans every year."

I believe it should be dominant.

You face stiff competition in this niche but there is money to be made.

You can earn much money with a simple blog if you work hard. It's not simple but I know many friends of mine earning more than 1000-2000$ with only one blog.
It depends on how many visitors your blog has.

Thanks for the input I always like getting valuable information like this. I also like it even when it is from people who have no interest in poker. Being that it is a competitive niche I would expect it to be hard.

I guess i need to find a way to make it better than the others! That's always the hard thing to do

This is key, every post you make, every url you choose, every title you go with should ALL be deeply thought of SEO wise before choosing them. Specially in a super competitive niche, stay away from keyphrases you have NO chance of ever ranking for.

Analyze SEO of top 10 rankings in google for every post title you write (most important). Use semantic keyphrase/keywords in your posts etc.

Basically in big niches, nothing can be left to chance.
