Ranking for a long tail keyword

Lets say that I'm trying to rank for the keyword, " Grilled Tandoori Barbecue Chicken Burgers". Will my site turn up in SERPS for searches for keywords like " Barbecue Chicken Burgers" or " Tandoori Chicken Burgers". I'm back linking only with " Grilled Tandoori Barbecue Chicken Burgers" as my anchor text and my site contains the same keyword.

no it will not happen automatically. only the long tail key word that you are using in the anchor text will be optimized. but in case of ON page optimization you don't have to do this separately. in case of Off page you have to optimize your site for the other key words too.
    thanks

So what you're saying is that, if I have the keywords, "Barbecue Chicken Burgers" or " Tandoori Chicken Burgers" in my content, I may turn up in SERPs for those keywords. But i don't have to necessarily do Off-page optimization for those keywords?

IMO, you should use both the keywords in offpage optimization. Keyword variation will help you to rank much better in search results.

It depends on the level of competition .

If your competitors pages are highly optimized , there is less probability to rank for other keywords , unless your pages is optimized highly for the other keywords too .

It depends on the competition. If you want to rank well for all three mix it up. Use one as a Header, one in the Title another in the description and also mix up the anchor text when you link to the page.
