Contextual or Post Contextual Targeting

I am starting to test out AdOn Network PPC and PPV services. They allow to choose either contextual targeting, or post contextual. Which one would you recommend?

Contextual Targeting:

Contextual targeting uses keyword targeting to display your ad when the consumer is searching or browsing for your product or service. As the name implies, your ad targets the context of a consumer's keyword search or a web page that a consumer is looking at.

Say, for example, that you have a travel website and you bid on the keyword "vacation". A consumer either searches on the word "vacation" or visits a web page with the keyword "vacation" in the URL and your ad is displayed. The type of ad displayed depends on the type of campaign you created (Pop-Under, Banner Ad or Search Listing).

Post Contextual Targeting:

Post Contextual targeting displays ads based on a consumer's past browsing and search behavior. With behavioral targeting, ads are not displayed based on the context of a consumer's current keyword search or browsing activity. Rather, ads are displayed based on searching and browsing behavior over a period of time.

Using the same example we mentioned for Contextual Targeting, you have a travel website and you bid on the keyword "vacation". On Monday a consumer searches on the word "vacation" or visits a web page with the keyword "vacation" in the URL. Using proprietary tracking methods, our network is aware that this consumer has an interest in the travel category. As a result of their browsing behavior, your travel ad will be displayed to that consumer later that week or month, regardless of what they are searching for or viewing at that time.

Do you have the ability to split your budget and test both targeting methods?

Ah, good idea, I should probably do that. Thanks!

Post contextual would seem to be more targetted. But that is not always the best option.

i think Contextual targeting is much better. Human psychology says that when a people search for the specific word, at that time all the cells of his brain work on that keyword and the chance of clicking the ads based on that keyword become more. its not necessary what he has searched 2 days ago.

Very true, I search for 1000's of things every day. I can't possibly remember every keyword my browser has loaded.

Humans are in the here and now.

I'm not sure how well the Post Contextual tracking is. If it is as powerful as Google's' (highly doubtful) than it could work. Google tracks your search trends over time, this PPV might just look at a keyword then load your ad tomorrow.

True, but you would also have to consider the kind o offer being promoted, s lot of offers(especially ones that require c.c submission, or actually buying something) would work better with pots contextual , a customer would have to see a certain offer 5-7 before deciding to make the purchase or take action, that is why there are some network that focus only on re targeting
