I like Aweber...if you aren't covering the $19/month charge with your email promotions, then you are doing something wrong! I have heard mixed reviews about the other two services, but I have never personally used them...some people swear by them though!

Any of the three will probably be fine until you start growing a massive list!

dont even put Mailchimp in the same catagory I think they are way to stringent on their spam rules. I have tried a couple campaigns on their platform with 100 legit lists. and got shut off within a few hours.

Do you mean you were trying to import 'legit lists'?

Very few (none?) high quality autoresponder providers allow importation because of the spam complaints they inevitably raise, and the progressive ISP blocking of their service that follows.

Why not just do the professional thing and build your list through a capture page. It's worked for me and worked for thousands of others.

if you're looking for best deliverability, I'd say Get Response.. if you're going for user friendly, then go aweber.. although, I really despise aweber lately!

I've used Aweber for a couple of years and I like them for
what I use them for, which is just building my list.

Constant Contact has been best for me importing lists, although
I've heard of them being strict to some other people.

If you're just building a list, then probably any of them will do,
but I recommend Aweber for their ease of use.

      I'd suggest avoiding MailChimp.

This thread, and this thread, and this thread will explain why.

Also, if you do any affiliate marketing (or any of the many other things they don't like), even if you don't do it/them at Mailchimp, you can still lose your account and your list(s) there, as explained here.

In fact, I'd suggest avoiding a "free" autoresponder altogether, for all the reasons explained here.

You are correct, it's not just an opinion it's more an urban myth that Aweber promote and people keep repeating.

So, reality check. There is no proof, and on fact no way anyway of proving, any autoresponder service suppliers deliverability rate.

And, in practice does it really matter if it's 99.9 or 100%? For most people they would be better tweaking their email series so that they get a better sales conversion than obsessing over deliverability rates.

Mailchimp is ok as they offer free 2K list and I think it's good for a starter but Aweber with high reputation in this market. I think Aweber is better for advance users.

I've used iContact for years, but am a little unhappy with their new global unsubscribes which are preventing people from signing up if they ever unsubscribed... EVER, anywhere. Their inbox rates are way beyond anyone else, but that's because they don't accept many affiliate marketers.

    MailChimp, well: http://performinsider.com/2011/09/ma...ks-affiliates/

Aweber is damn good, and they love affiliates.

AWeber has been around for ages. Constant Contact has built an extensive business friendly platform targeting small businesses and professionals. AWeber is my choice because i can import lists from other auto responders / contact forms. Really AWeber has evolved to be the internet marketer's email service provider.

Mailchimp: free for a specific number of leads (without autoresponder service for free user), prepaid credit is available, monthly fee is cheap.
Aweber: expensive but reliable, less features than getresponse.
Constant contact: just work in case your list is small, you even can't say you will do it for a list of just tens of thousands of leads.

I wasted time worrying about this question. I think the more important thing is to just start creating content and building your list. MailChimp is free and easy to get started. If you're bootstrapping your own products, the affiliate issue is a bit overblown (see here Does MailChimp Ban Affiliate Links? | MailChimp.com)

AWeber may be a great choice. Yes, once you have a list, then $19 should be no problem. But, when you're just starting out, it can be a bit too much money. You can always transfer from MailChimp to AWeber without another opt-in round.

I wrote more about this here:
Don't delay starting your list - pocket product
