Understanding CPA Terms! PLEASE HELP!

Hey guys, Ive been researching online marketing for several months and have decided to give it a try on a small scale. After signing up with several CPA Networks i don't seem to understand the lingo and how things work, for example...

I see offers on email submit and they either say payout is conversion, lead or sale. Now i understand a sale but as far as conversion im not sure when your paid?? i did a test run on an ad and had 713 clicks with 0 conversions. Do you normally see your payouts right when it happens?? or do you not know how much money is made till the end of the month? I see offers that say " pays on first page submit" and i even sent the link to a friend to complete but still no payout just a click. Is this normal or am i missing something? Extremely frustrated, please help...

A conversion is like when a user downloads something or signs up to a site, a lead is when a user enters information on a form like email submits, you should normally see the payouts soon after they complete the offer. You should try speaking with your Affiliate Manager too see if everything is good on their end.

The key is to test.I've been promoting a lot of CPA offers, and to be honest with you I even don't know what people have to do on the pages.Just get all of the offers in your niche and test them.

    713 clicks with 0 conversions
    what is your traffic source?

Some networks will list the page the pixel fires on....when the pixel is fired, that means a lead or sale is generated and you should receive commissions on that action taken by the consumer. If so see pixel fires on page 1, all the fields you see when looking at the landing page of the offer on the first page need to be filled out in order for you to earn commissions, same follows for offers that have pixels that fire on page 2, 3, ETC...

Also, some networks will list required fields to trigger a conversion, that's pretty self explanatory...

If you don't have either of those are the networks you work with, then i suggest reaching out to your account manager...

you can also get a feel just by looking at the landing page of the offer and the payout to you in your account, if the payout is pretty low, $1 - $3 let's say, thats most likely a first page submit, $5 - $10 could be both, depending on the amount of fields being collected on the 1st page but again, check with the network to be safe before testing.

    Best of luck

I have a few questions about pixels.. Are they only a clarification for what page on a offer a lead, sale, zip, email submit is generated. Also for one of my network offers it says "no pixels are found for this offer" However it does say a third party pixel can be added.. what does that mean?

A pixel is how actions by consumers are tracked, that can be a consumer filling out a lead, making a sale, or even a click or impression depending on the model of the offer.

Pixels are placed on web pages and my IT team told me when i first got started at COPEAC to think of a pixel is as an imaginary box placed on web pages...when certain criteria is met (IE: the required filled set forth by the ADV) that box "pings" the tracking system and records the actions be taken by the consumer.
