Struggling with Promoting Mobile CPA Offers

Hello Warriors,

Since mid April I have been with Offermobi trying to promote mobile CPA offers through platforms like Jumptap and Admob. Although I haven't been at it that long, I've put a lot of effort in, and have seen no success. I have been through many campaigns, had terrible CTR, and my conversions are unbelievably low.

Here's my normal routine when going about setting up a new campaign. (maybe you will see an error/flaw in my process)

Example:
Offer - Prepaid Debit Card 1 Field
Payout - $.30
Mobile Advertising Platform - Jumptap

1. Pick a feature campaign with low payout but high conversions
2. Affiliate manager recommends running it with Feature Phones like Boost, Metro PCS, and Cricket
3. Create 3 separate campaigns for Cricket, Boost, and Metro PCS on Jumptap
4. Add the tracking parameters to my tracking link jt,JT_ADBUNDLE,JT_OPERATOR,JT_HANDSET,JT_KEYWORD,J T_PUBLISHER,JT_SITE
5. Give each campaign a $15 budget
6. Target US only
7. To find out what I should put in my Ad Text for Title & Description I search "Prepaid Debit Card" on Google, look at the ads, and copy their Ad Text.
8. Ad Title: Best Prepaid Debit Card Description: 100% Approval. Start Now!
8. Ad all categories except for Adult and place a $.10 Bid
9. Hope for the best
10. After the campaigns are run if something has a better CTR or is converting better I cater to it. But no matter how much I fidget with ad text, bid price, categories, I can't get the offer to convert over the ad cost.

My only conclusion why I haven't been successful is because I don't have enough money to test with. Like all of my campaigns are given a $20 budget instead of the usual $100 + budget needed to test. I have sucked it up and tested with large $ campaigns but they had no success either.

If anyone is having success with Mobile CPA and Offermobi, it would be much appreciated to hear what you're doing to see good results.

Thank you so much!

I've never tried running mobile campaigns the way you are, but from the looks of it I think you might be spread a bit too thin. I would pick one feature phone and run with that for a while until you learn how to convert on that one phone, then move on to others. Also, again I've not done mobile advertising, but I know each mobile phone type displays things a bit differently - I'd get my hands on the feature phone that you're using and see how the ads actually appear, that might give you a bit better clue what people are seeing and what you might consider doing to tweak your ad. Go to your local retailer and check out one of their demo units.

Also, I don't know about the offers that you're running, but you want to get the network epc from your AM at offermobi and bid that amount while testing. If you get an ad to convert really well, you can think about raising your bid to get more exposure, but I would look at the epc as a guide to what you should be bidding.

Thanks for the reply but I've even tried that. I don't need to physically go look how the ad looks on the phone because I have the Preview Tool which does the job for me. The offers I've been promoting have clean landing pages, they are the highest converting offers according to my AM, but just don't convert well for me.

It would be helpful if someone on WF had a set campaign model that was converting well for them.

Hey MaddMula! Have you tried collecting numbers through SMS services like Trumpia then marketing to those numbers via text message?

Heres an extremely weird idea, but try creating a Facebook Fan Page based around a particular group of offers (or offer). Use Facebook Ads to drive fans to your fan page and somewhere in the ad or the fan page say something like "Text "blahblabh" to "some group of numbers" in order to receive information on debt!.

That way, you'll have your own list and you constantly remarket to that list over and even again. Thats just my two cents though, contact me if you need some help.(keep in mind, mobile cpa marketing is not my niche...for now!!)

Thanks for the plan, I'll possibly try that, only thing is I then have to learn how to use Trumpia and Facebook Ads. I think before i quit, I'm just going to try making my own mobile offer/landing page to capture emails and phone #'s. Again thanks for the idea

In my opinion, that's probably your best bet - get the contact information first, then educate/sell to them using good old fashion email marketing.

Here's a basic mobile squeeze page builder that might help you out:

Lemme spill the beans for you.

    1) Mobile ads are still mostly branding or app downloads, only those do well.
    2) You would also notice around 30%+ click discrepancy in reporting between ad network and aff network. Mainly due to lot of accidental clickers just close the window before it even opens your LP.
    3) I spent well over $2000 testing the entire market including INTL but remains the same.

    4) Expect a lot of babies and kids to click your ads as they play angry birds on their parents iphone/android. lol

Seriously speaking mobile marketing needs a lot of change right now and its going to take time. Revisit in 2012 and you might be suprised. for the time being capturing email and phone and then selling them your CPA offer makes a lot of sense.

    Good luck

Mobile CPA is still killer, it is harder because there simply isn't a lot of material on it yet. I use it to build my list and then promote my offers.

You guys are just going about it all wrong! Using paid marketing for mobile CPA is a waste of time and money. Trust me I've done it. I've devised a system using the Android market to totally CRUSH mobile CPA offers, and it's free. I call it Mobile CPA Sniper, I've been making a steady $100 a day with my method since Feb. 2011. If anybody's interested just PM me! I'm thinking about launching a Clickbank product around this method because it works so well. I'm new to the forum but lot's of good stuff on here!

    Hey Maddula.
I understand your frustration because I've been in the same situation before.
I think you got to be more aggressive while promoting cpa offers because conversion depends on how you present the offer to clients. Being more aggressive means having an attractive banner. Usually, I go to fiverr, and hire a very good graphic designer to build my ad. And I use adfonic for my advertising. You should build an ad that takes the whole screen of the cell phone and increase your bid to let say $0.3. Personally, I Target just 3 countries: the US, Canada, and the UK. I have a pretty good conversion. Check offermobi for cpa offer, and always make sure that their offer is mobile compatible, otherwise you won't have great ctr. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any question.

what i glean from these replies is that to make it with mobile cpa you need to target properly and have the right banner size. i hope am correct?

    Hey dude

I've actually started testing quite a few MOBILE offers now which are basically a very small form (optimized for tablets and mobiles) and all based on financial leadgen. The payout is EXACTLY the same as the bigger forms and we're killing it at the moment. The only drawback is though that you can't cut corners and need to stick to create a mobile/tablet based PPC campaign on Google, so you are limited to the amount of ads being displayed.

But, if you push your ads into the top 1-2 positions you get all the traffic

Any questions just let me know.

This thread seems to span a long time, but just wanted to jump in and say that mobile CPA is a lot better now than when the thread was created. Users are a lot more confident in using their mobile devices and filling in forms, and lead gen is incredibly profitable on mobile.

PM me if you have any questions.

I hear the percentage of false banner clicks on some of those mobile networks can be killers for low paying offers. You can find pay per call offers paying more like $30 that might convert well with Google mobile.
