I am new here and new to online marketing. But I am looking to do podcast advertising for my product. Does anyone know what are the cost per user? Is podcast advertising worth it?

I've actually never experienced anything like this before...Do you have any information how your ad would be displayed? Would it surround the media player that's streaming the podcast? A 30 second spot during the actual podcast?

What product are you looking to advertise?

basically, if you listen to podcast on itunes etc. at the beginning or end of the clip they'll play the audio advertisment.

    Hello Steve,

Podcasting is nothing but using Radio for advertising in the form of a Radio Talkshow.

Maintain a current media kit. This kit provides lots of information about your show to people who might want to sponsor you. Include in your media kit:

    1. Unique show branding like a header image or show photos.
    2. Description of your show and the kinds of content you feature.
    3. Information about the podcast producers and hosts.
    4. Vital statistics such as number of episodes, publishing schedule and estimated audience size.
    5. Basic demographic information on the audience including ages and geographic locations.
    6. Links to and quotes from reviews or press related to the podcast.
    7. Information about the types of advertising you are seeking for the podcast.
    8. Contact information including the name and phone number of the appropriate individual.

If you are just starting out, I would recommend doing some small scale paid traffic before going into podcast ads. That way you can refine your offer, pitch, etc. and get the best data a lot faster and cheaper.

Selling your podcasting ad space can be quite appealing since podcasts are generally free. This revenue can help you cover the cost of producing your podcast and create better content so you can gain even more listeners.

Selling advertising in your podcast is much like selling advertising space on your Web site. Unlike selling a banner on a per-click basis, though, the most simple podcast ad can be inserted into your podcast and left there.
