First Mobile CPA Conversion (aka first $$ online)

Purchased Mark Roth's course on Mobile CPA marketing today. Got through the first modules on how to set up the campaigns (applied to offermobi earlier and was accepted) then set up a split test campaign on a dating offer, targeting one carrier, one for android phones, one for other phones (both using banners. Will test text ads at a later date).

Once i finished setting them up I let it loose and went to take a nap.

Woke up about 4 hours later and saw that i had an email form the ad network i was running the campaigns on, saying that i was getting low on funds (which was kinda strange as i wasn't even NEAR the threshold and the daily budget was set so i wouldn't get that close for a few days.)

Logged in to the ad network and noticed I had 2 clicks already. Logged into my offermobi account and saw that 1 of those clicks converted.

So, within about 4 hours of setting up the campaign I had made my first $$ online ($2.90 but it is a start).

Congrats. Now it is time to scale the method and optimize to get more clicks since it seems you are getting high conversion rate which is great! Keep the good work up.

Wowzas do not scale up yet lol!

That is not good advice with only a few clicks.

Keep testing and tweaking after you get about 50 to 100 clicks evaluate your results and tweak again. Then test again over the next 50 clicks.

If you have a good CTR and Conversion then scale that puppy up and share your success

      Good Job Buddy!

Thanks for the encouragement. Unfortunately, that has been the only conversion I received. People need to realize (who are familiar with mobile CPA) I am very limited in budget. I can't keep a campaign running 24/7 so I have to limit when they run. I'm gonna try a different carrier and if I don't see a better conversion I'll pause and try a different offer (maybe one in a different country). I AM NOT GIVING UP JUST YET!

I would not be scaling up a campaign based on 2 visits and 1 click. Until you have had around 1000 visitors then you are nowhere near knowing what your conversion rate will be. He could very well have no more conversions for the next 2000 visitors - does that still mean he has a great conversion rate? No.

That's one of the problems with most types of paid advertising. You are going to need a decent amount of money if you plan on making any sort of traction. Testing a few clicks here and there everyday is not going to get you anywhere much.

Consider this: On mobile, you get x,xxx impressions (minimum), xxx clicks, and only 1 conversion. You think i want to scale up right now? Heck no!!

            Agreed

Mind you, on mobile, I have only been, thus far, paying 10 cents/click AT THE MOST (as opposed to Adwords which has skyrocketed) but that can get expensive if you have a low daily budget. $1 a day would get you maybe 15 minutes of exposure (depending on what device or what carrier you're targeting. Remember: you're talking a heck of a lot more impressions than what you would see on the internet, and the necessity to split test), $5 would give you a bit more leeway, but in the end, you have to study and learn what works and what doesn't. THEN you start thinking of scaling up, once the conversions become more prevalent (sp).

@aruns4: Offermobi. Mark Roth is co-founder of the company and he created a program to help others learn mobile CPA. Those who join the program are accepted into the network.

OT: Just did a search for 'mobile CPA' to see what other networks were mentioned, and this thread is on page 2. Interesting

What is the best CTR number to look for?
The best I can get so far with OfferMobi CPA offers is 1.3%.

    Is it enough?

I’ve long wondered when affiliate marketing would enter the mobile space, and now seems to be the time. OfferMobi.com is set to launch the first U.S.-Based affiliate network focused on the Mobile Web during Ad-Tech in San Francisco.
Launching with around 50 international offers to get things started, the new network is focused exclusively on mobile ready landing pages, compatible with a wide array of mobile phones and devices. The solution fills a void in the mobile marketing industry whereby a true performance-based model was largely missing.
OfferMobi fills that void by bringing together advertisers and publishers with mobile related CPA offers and pay per call offers- the latter of the which being the most interesting. Performance-based pay-per-call offers could be hugely successful if done correctly, but therein lies the problem with mobile affiliate marketing in general; consumer privacy.
While the payouts are good and the conversion rates are high, allowing anyone to promote your brands offers on mobile devices could be troublesome. If a few publishers try shady tactics to encourage click-throughs and violate best practices or regulations, your brand will suffer as a result.
Still, mobile affiliate marketing is an intriguing concept and one that will begin to take shape in the coming years, even if it does come with its roadblocks. Offermobi will act as a testing ground for the emerging concept and it will be interesting to find out how effective the network is for advertisers and mobile publishers alike.
