If you individually approach partners then I suppose there isn't really a minimum, though it would be very difficult to do any decent size buys for less than a few hundo. But if you approach small sites and blogs, you can probably do for less

Look to start with $500-$1000, and either go with small direct buys or look into platforms like SiteScout. I find smaller buys easier to get profitable, but setup can be a pain.

Please read an article on this subject - Tips for Buying Banner Ad Placements for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses, it maybe interesting for you.
Of course the more money you have to invest, the more options you can have. But it's possible to start a banner ad campaign even with limited funds. Good luck!

$500 would be a good start, you could possibly do it for a little less.. one of the cheaper ways is to do Google image ads.. or you could also just search for websites in your niche and contact them directly to look for a good deal..

Like the suggestions above, create a lot of banners or you would simply spend $500 with no data. Thats how I wasted my fist investment

Yeah around $500 is where you should start. Of course you could go cheaper if you hit a home run on your first try.

Yes from my experience the minimum is $500, below that you will not get enough data to know that your campaign is successful or not.

Budget really depends, I would not start media buying without getting profitable elsewhere. There are also tools like adbeat and whatrunswhere that can help shorten the learning curve but again, it helps to have some exerience with other sources.

Not to hijack your thread but
Is Traffic Vance a good PPV network?
Yes, next would be Lead Impact.

Frankly, if you ask me I think you can start for
    less than 500 bucks also.

You just have to start with smaller websites,
and like everybody said, track your results
    continuously.

If you hit upon a profitable campaign fast,
you can reinvest it into more media buys
and get the ball rolling quickly.

However, I suggest staying away from
ad networks in the beginning as they could
eat up your budget very fast without giving you
    any data at all.

    Good luck,
    Dean.

Depends on what sites you deal with. Even with small sites, at least a minimum of $200 is required.

You've obviously not even tested this offer on PPC or self-serve so why venture here? Sorry, just trying to understand your optimization and scaling logic. Shouldn't be being media on a display basis if you haven't gotten your metrics down, which none were shared here.

Honestly I scale an offer to $XX,XXX.XX a day before I start buying up placements.

That's a very broad question. It completely depends on the number of placements, ads, payout of the lead. What the epc is on average on that offer, the size of the network, quality of traffic and so on. I'd be weary of anyone who just gives you one 'magic' number. I've had to spent 5k recently on a dating campaign and still haven't broke even but I managed to spend that in about a week.
