Website or no website???

Hi Guys,

This is my dilemma: I am new to CPA and am currently applying to networks. So far, I have applied to WolfStormMedia, Peerfly, MaxBounty and CPAway. I was declined by WolfStormMedia (was my second application to them within several months). They never called to even discuss my application, so I don't know why I was rejected, and sent an email that basically indicated they wouldn't give a reason. The other networks, I am still awaiting decisions/phone calls.

Here's my question: Should I include a website in my application?

The only application wherein I have listed a website I own was for Peerfly.
Normally I would for all, but here is why I hesitate to, or choose to not list one:

1) I own a number of domains, but only a handful have a site up on them, and even those have not been developed as far as driving traffic, backlinks. This isn't because of carelessness or lack of ability (though I am no expert). My IM work was stalled due to some life events that needed priority. I have a fair amount of knowledge, and have even been able to give what others have said is good advice, but due to what was going on around me, I couldn't jump in and apply my knowledge practically.

2) The particular website of these that I'd choose to list if need be looks great (nice layout, organized, has AdSense on it), has some content (though it hasn't been updated with new posts recently), but it doesn't have the Alexa rankings/Google standings that some networks specifically spell out in the TOS.

I know listing a website is desirable if not required, but I feel like I am shooting myself in the foot by listing it if it doesn't have the traffic because, bottom line, the site's lack of traffic is not reflecting my abilities as explained above. I have started to make changes, which has helped rankings, but still have work to do. Rome was not built in a day I know if I were given the chance to promote for a network that I would do well in the end. If I can't get approved, that is a problem. I realize there are many networks, and I may still get approvals (I am a positive person), so I have not by any means given up, nor will I. I get that from my momma

3) I am planning on, at first at least, driving traffic with PPC direct linking (I have done a little with PPC and CPM before, but with affiliate offers), so from what I have read, traffic to a website is not relevant here. Later, after I tested offers for conversion, I want to do landing pages, and promote using PPC, offline, social media, media buys all as permitted by the advertiser/network- All in time, of course. I want to start off right and not go all over the place at once. I'll focus on doing one thing decently well before moving on. People have told me/ I have read that I could list Google where I'd put my own website on the application if I were going to promote via PPC and explained this to the network. Is this true from what you more experienced guys know?

I would greatly appreciate any feedback or opinions Thanks in advance.

    Hello Tracy,

First of all please check Reviews of CPA Networks, Affiliate Programs and Ad Networks - Affpaying to find trustworthy CPA networks to join.

It don't matter if you application get rejected, there is still a lot of good CPA networks to take you in and approve you.

Having a website is a plus, but not a must have since many affiliates buying traffic as you said.

You can include your website to the application since the CPA networks are looking for the traffic coming to your website and the design.

Try to call the CPA network once you apply for them or reach them on skype and explain how you plan to drive traffic to their campaigns.

    Hope that helps

Hey Tracy - I appreciate your application(s) to our network. We understand that you may not actually need a site to drive traffic, in fact short of landing pages most of our traffic is driven via paid traffic so no sites are needed.

There are many reasons we deny an application, the reason we generally cannot be specific is for compliance reasons. Basically - if we tell every affiliate exactly why they were denied, they may lie or utilize different means to get in on their second, third, fourth etc attempts.

Our application process is meant to keep out fraudulent affiliates, so if we told every affiliate why they were denied, the shadier ones would apply and fix that reason just to get approved, and then continue to utilize their fraudulent traffic.

Now - obviously I'm not saying that was the reason you were rejected. We look for publishers who are serious about their business, and have a plan or course of action that they will utilize to promote our offers. We generally work with paid traffic affiliates, although we have some larger SEO affiliates as well.

If you'd like me to take a look at your specific application, I will be happy to do so in private. Shoot me an email - JCooper@wolfstormmedia.com with your application details and I will take a look.
