My first affiliate sale!

Dear warriors, I joined this forum recently having failed to make a penny through AM despite a year of part time attempts. Last night I started a Facebook ad targeting English speaking adults that LIKE a particular game. I am promoting a strategy guide for this game and got my first sale of $16.36 commission. My problem is that I have spent this amount on the advertising so am breaking even at this early point. While I am truly ecstatic about getting my first ever sale on clickbank I wanted to get some advice from you experienced AMers.

Should I stick with this campaign and try to tweak it to see if I can make it profitiable or should I try to find another product with a higher payout? At the moment I am only using one ad with direct linking to product for the campaign and have a CTR of just under 0.09% and a conversion rate of about 1.5% (1 sale lol). Also I would very much appreciate some insight on the actual methods of tweaking ads as I really don't have any experience or ideas.

Thanks in advance

Would you recommend any networks/companies that could potentially convert well on Facebook. Would a lead be considered as a free trial sign up or something like that?

There is plenty of networks which convert well on Facebook ( nearly all best cpa networks. )

About free-trial offer. I dont think so, never tried, but - Factebook is social network, i dont think that they will want give credit details for some 'unknow' guys.

It will convert sure, but not like in other promotion methods.

If you work with Facebook, go for simple zip and email submits offers, don't forget dating offers.

Good stuff, if you're almost breaking even, then why not try to tweak it a bit to profits?

Only 1 conversion isn't enough to tell much really. Try to add some more images and ad copies in your campaign to improve the CTR.

    Congratulations on your first sale!!

The next step is probably to optimize the campaign to increase your CTR and decrease your CPC. This way, you can turn a positive ROI.

However, it's too early to say if the campaign has potential or not, because you got just 1 converion so far.

Also, I think you should consider CPAVeteran's advice... I'm not one of those guys who are against running CPS offers, because I do believe they can be extremely profitable in certain situations, but we are talking about social PPC here (you're using Facebook ads, right?). So, CPA is probably more suitable for your traffic, since people on social networks are not in the right mindset to buy stuff.

First sale is the sweetest thing one could ever have. Congrats mate!

As mentioned by williamrs, it is social networking site and people come here to just enjoy there time and there are would be very less number of people who would be interested to buy something. So go with cpl and keep up this same confidence and start new campaign with any cpa offer.

It's far too early to tell if the campaign is a winner or not, but I will say that if you can continue breaking even, they it is absolutely a winner.

After some optimization and lot more optimization, you should be able to milk it pretty good.

    Nice work

Making that first sale is a great feeling, I can still remember it

As per your questions... I think you can't tell if the campaign is profitable or not yet, only one conversion is not enough to make a judgement. So, try to run the campaign for a longer period of time and split test different ads and landing pages in the meantime, pick the winners and see if the campaign turns profitable.

    Congratulations !

I think you should try to use different image, description and try to reach higher CTR in the same offer. Sometimes minor changes make a big difference. If you pay more than you get for 2 days later, then you can see if another offer works better. Good luck
