Is it important to hire a mentor for PPC?

I have a question, is this necessary to hire a mentor for PPC?

    No it's far better to learn on your own, make costly mistakes and spend about 10 x more then using one.

    I would not mind hiring one, and I may in the future but I would have to go by recommendations of former clients

    I would not take the coaches word on it (no offense to you PPC coach)

    Well, it depends!

    If you are an intelligent person and not scared of computer, you can do it on your own. Remember the power of "How to".

    Now, if you are a person at least mildly intelligent and literally convinced that if you right clicked the mouse, the computer will break THEN you really need a mentor.

    Teaching others is very difficult IMO, many times if they are fast learners its fun, but if they want their hand held and you to do the work for them, it drives you nuts

    PPC is not something you should learn on your own, since there is money involved every day (or every click). The best you can do is to first study some good materials on the subject and then try hour hands on a few small-budge campaigns.

    But nothing beats either hiring a professional PPC expert of a mentor who knows his stuff.

    sometime it's important to hire a mentor, but you already know the basic concept and are willing to try yourself (with the risk of trial and error), then mentor will not be needed.. the basic concept of ppc, you can start small (bidding more targeted keyword that's close to buying phase) .. then you can reinvest the revenue..

    Having a mentor is great, not just for PPC, but for any aspect of internet marketing. If you have the money, do not spend it on paid courses, rather hire a mentor that will coach you 1 on 1.

    I would rather have a mentor and pay him a thousand dollars per month than buy another "Guru" course for a few thousand bucks, which in nature is a great product, but does not target my circumstances and myself. Having a mentor is better, he helps you find out about your problems and what YOU can improve.

    The real value of a mentor would be from winning campaign details (specific keywords, sales copy, graphics, and landing pages). Those details would potentially be worth the thousands of dollars that many mentors would want to charge for private coaching, but it's doubtful you'll find many coaches willing to share those types of details with you. Instead, they will likely walk you step-by-step through the FUNDAMENTALS of successfull PPC campaigns related to research, testing, analysis, and optimization. There is plenty of free and cheap detailed information online related to these fundamentals. There are also WSO's containing logical organizations of these details as well as a promise from the authors for accompanying help via Skype such as some by Mahmoud Selman (sp?) and SpeedylikesKJ. Focusing the bulk of your resources primarily towards TESTING with the help of a few of these lower priced WSO's is your best bet towards the shortest and cheapest learning curve, in my opinion.

    Not really, I'd say the most important part of paid advertising is split testing your ads. And also having enough $ to ride out the times where you arent getting conversions.. I tried PPC/PPV and I just kept throwing my money away.

    But ya never know, maybe you will be great at it.. lol I'll just stick to what I'm good at.

    How much does it cost to get PPC coaching and where could I go to find someone?

    Edit: Just noticed PPC Coach has a website, I see how much it costs for a month member but how much does it cost for 1v1 coaching?

      I think a good mentor doesn't fish for you, they show you how to fish and then correct your technique along the way.

      Mentoring is not handing you successful campaigns, there's no learning in that. That's just buying campaigns. That's not mentoring at all. It's a two way street where the person getting mentored has to actually take action so the coach can help them fix any errors they're making. Most don't fully grasp that part of it.

        I can appreciate that, that's the kind of coaching I would want, where I do something and show my coach what I have done, he can tell me if I have done it wrong or if it's good but can be tweaked to be more effective and how.

        I am going to sign up to the website on my next pay day, hope I can work full time using PPC.

        A good coach is not a "campaign seller", but someone who can teach others how to create successful campaigns by themselves.

        That's eaxctly what I do with my students, I explain to them exactly how I build my campaigns, work with them while they create and optimize their first campaigns and make sure that they understand the entire process. This way, they can replicate it in the future without my help.

        So, if you decide to invest good money on coaching, make sure that you find someone who is good in the area you intend to focus on and then ask that person to show you how to build the cmapaigns. They shouldn't just tell you what offer to promote, but teach you how to analyze an ofer and pick one with good potential. The same for ads, landing pages, etc... You must understand how all the pieces work together.

        If you just get a campaign or case study, it probably won't be worth it.
