Movies Site with 6 million visitors a month needs help

Hi, I have a movies and tv shows site with more than 200k visits a day. The main traffic comes from: Argentina, Mexico, Uruguay, Spain, United States.
The main two represent more than 50% of the traffic.

Although I am making some money I would like to hear about some of your suggestions, becouse I dont think its nearly enough.

The site is Spanish, and I would like to mantain the quality of it as we are consider one of the best of Latin America on what we do.

    Sell text and/or banner ads.

    If you don't want to manage the advertising yourself, negotiate a good deal with an established ad network.

    Personally I wouldnt use content locking. Think of your users and what they want. One minute they can view what they want and next minute they come to your site and have to jump through hoops to watch something. That is one sure fire way to lose custom.

    Maybe thats why they are coming to your site to begin with, because most other sites are content locked.

    One course of action I would take is selling advertising space. If you are getting that amount of visitors then people would pay a premium to get their ad in front of that many eyes.

    Adsense is an option however I would use it as an alternative to other ad's for example if they dont like one set of ads they may like this kind etc etc.

    1.Put ads on the whole website and forum(if you have)
    2.DO NOT LOCK IT EVERY DAY(begin slow-every 2-3 day lock it) with easy survey
    3.Build Packages for you visitors(with monthly payment-for those users don't lock the website)
    4.40% of the future earnings you'll get using 1-3 steps put in ADVERTISING your website through cheapest and biggest advertising company,like adcenter,adsense something like that

    If you go with content locking, content lock once a week at most, and set a cookie (if the content locker doesn't) so that they will only have to do a survey once a week to be able to watch the shows all week. And LET THEM KNOW that one completed survey equals access for an entire week.

    Anything more than one week and you will see your user base dwindle fast.

    But if it were up to me, I'd just run ads. At 6 million users, there isn't a network you probably wouldn't get approved on.

    As many people said, content locking will bring you a ****LOAD of short-term cash, but it will kill your traffic. You can do it for a couple days/week though and everything will be cool.
    Aside from that, you can do something even cooler. Require everyone to download a toolbar or some software to be able to watch the movies, with which you can, for the very least example, ask them to change their homepage to a custom google search of yours, and like a thousand other similar things (you could even go full blackhat with that, like injecting your ads in every site they visit etc, and cashing some serious dough; I don't even know the legality of such stuff though, and I have no responsibility, it's totally up to you - i just said a crazy idea)

    If you're violating copyright laws I'm not sure that a network would be cool with you promoting their offers. Before you do anything I'd consult your AM. 6 million is a lot you can for sure turn a nice profit but don't get band from a network for breaking their rules.

    If that site is streaming movies then you're going to be going blackhat all the way heh.

    But I will say one thing. It is a nice looking site though. If monsterdivx.com is the one. I can't read it so I don't know lol.

    But if it is streaming movies I probably wouldn't have had Google analytics and webmaster tools heh.

    Actually I should say I wouldn't use em on any site. But that's just me...

      Opps!, for the little spanish I can understand it looks like it is not only streaming movies but their script (which is needed in order to stream the movies) modifies ads in every site to include their own affiliate code/ads.

      Another good reason to install just trusted plugins, or non at all. Plugins asking for permission to access every site should be avoided if they are not from a trusted source.

    Content would be good but it would kill your traffic. I'm not sure if a script is possible but maybe have them do one once a week/bi weekly and that's it. And you could also sell a premium monthly package that you could take away those content lockers. Nice residual income.

    Try financial lead generation: 50-80 bucks a lead/form submit. Payday is also nice but not really a true PPL product and rejection rates suck.

    Also, I have this feeling your "movies and tv shows" site isnt 100% legit

      How many daily active users do you have? If you have over a million I'd recommend going with an established network like OpenX or a SSP like Pubmatic. I monetized a website that had approximately 2-4 million daily actives by allocating all of my traffic to SSPs (Rubicon, Pubmatic, Admeld) and optimizing them based on performance (fill rate, eCPM, etc...). We were making well over $100K a day, although we showed a LOT of impressions. I think you need to be around 100 million impressions/day to work with the SSPs. I find their ad serving technology is better at driving conversions than alternating affiliate offers because it does the targeting for you. You will get hit on eCPM but the scale will generate a lot of revenues. But that's just my experience and opinion.
