Marketing via yahoo answers is not black hat. Its only when you spam or raise alarms, they may terminate you.

Yahoo answers is not black hat. It only becomes one when you try to spam or promote your site excessively.

Do you see Yahoo Answers listed anywhere in your affiliate control panel as a viable means for traffic gen? mmmmm probably not. Meaning that if your network sees your referrer being YA there likely going to tell you to stop.

Which means you probably want to cover your tracks

Using yahoo answers to send people to a cpa offer is blackhat. But as long as you blank your referer using a double meta refresh you are safe.

Excuse my ignorance but is it correct to assume that you would use the double meta refresh in order to hide the "Yahoo Answers" referrer from the affiliate network ?

No, I do not think it is blackhat unless you spam.

or if you answers questions that have nothing to do with your site.

I agree answering Yahoo answer questions is not blackhat if you are doing them manually. Of course, if you are using some software to autopost there, that would qualify as blackhat.
