how are you getting the traffic to your site?
What's the demographics of your site?
What type of offer(s) are you using?
How are you advertising your offer(s)?

Well instead of just 1 CPA offer I decided to create a site with multiple offers and let the user "pick" an offer.
Traffic comes from SEO and PPC. USA only. I'm promoting zip / email submits in multiple niches.

Create banners and advertise on the relevant sites using buynsell ads .

Banner ads really helps to increase your conversions.

I wonder what's the average conversion rate for the sites like mine? Anyone ever had any experience?

200 Visitors per day, but 1 conversion ....

^I just don't get it honestly. My niche is people looking for "free stuff". So, I get 200 visitors / day from targeted keywords (free stuff, get free stuff etc.) yet, I get almost 0 conversions ...
Is it the offers? I just don't understand what throw them off. I even tried simple Zip submit ... and nothing ...

I am. I added a pop-up with "Special offers", see if that'll make a difference.

Second, when you do PPC/SEO are you using only "Free stuff" keywords? Or are you using keywords of the products/services you're providing. So, if someone is looking for a Rubber Chicken that you are selling, he will find your site. Even if you offer many more things.

See if this helps. Put yourself in the shoes of your user. If you were the one clicking through, did you get what was "advertised"? When they click through for the "free stuff", are they getting what they want? Is your offer inline with what they expect to get?

Currently rebuilding the database, so the site is down for an hour or so.
I just started targeting product keywords, so we'll see how that'll go. As far as PPC campaigns I'm targeting mainly product keywords. I also tell the customer upfront what they need to do, for example "enter your email and see" or "enter your zip code"
I'm also working on video testimonials. I just want to turn this site into something big for once ...

One of the biggest mistakes sites make is asking for too much information. Your conversion process may be sale, or it may be a request for information.

I only focus on "easy" offers. E-mail / Zip submits or 1 page surveys.

Try to play with color and Call To Action images...
and trim your article posts

You should get targeted traffic, it'll definitely improve your conversion rate. Remove anything that can distract your traffic and make them focus to your sales pitch
