POF - Is targetting income a good/bad idea?

I sell Clickbank products through POF (after they opt in of course) and I'm debating whether to target income or not.

Would I be better off targetting people who earn over $25,000 per year, or just leaving it completely?

From my experience on the platform I feel like this is something that people either lie about or are not honest about. I was checking tokens on my conversions and had some people that said were identified as 22 year old men that were making over $250K a year and stuff like that. I'm not saying it can't happen, but I'm just saying there isnt enough consistency.

However, in staying true to my beliefs, if you want to know - test it! There's really only one way to find out if it works! You might have yourself a gem if you have a good idea for a campaign!

The best thing to do is to test it out for yourself - every campaign and offer converts differently, so you just need to split test it and see which one gets a better CTR/CVR.

It really depends on the niche and the demographic of that niche. As always it's worth testing!

What is the product? Depending on the product, it seems if you are targeting the right demographics otherwise, there probably isn't a need to target income, unless your product or email sequence specifically hinges on people with high incomes as a main component of getting their business.

Research product -> Quantcast + Target same demo on POF = Winner

Dating offers Richmen -> Target Low income

All depends on the offer, but most dating offers are requiring some sort of purchase on the back end, so if you target low income the most likely will not subscribe, meaning the advertiser will see no value from the traffic and you will get pulled.

Quantcast gives you an idea of % breakdown of each demo. How do you know the smaller demos don't give you the best performance? A lot of people take this approach right away and ignore smaller demos, but just because some demographic comprises 20% of a site's traffic doesn't mean they are going to perform a lot worse than a demo that comprises 60% of the traffic. Based on my experience, the % composition of a demo in a traffic stream has no correlation with that demo's performance.

Have you actually tested this? Lower income is the best demo to target for that offer? Remember that Richmen is also a paid service. If you haven't tested this, what makes you think someone making $75k isn't interested in dating a rich man more so than someone making $25k?

Like I said earlier in the thread, do you honestly think that people are going to be completely honest about their income on a DATING website? A place where people are there to impress the other sex? Whether or not the woman is wealthy or not so, I'm sure the majority of the single woman demographic are looking for successful men. Regardless of how shallow that person may or may not be, it will always be a positive trait about a man.

Don't limit your traffic on something like this. Richmen.com can appeal to any income demographic.

In addition, I have tested this and saw no statistical significance between the two. If anything, I had more of a reach when I didn't target income, allowing me to run the campaigns for longer.

Another way to get at income is through education (higher education is usually correlated to higher income) or profession.
