Can Trojan viruses exist in CPA offers?

Hey guys I have a question. I joined a CPA network and clicked on some of the links to see the offers but Avast triggered a Trojan viruses upon clicking the link.

Is that Avast being over protective in the setting or should I be concerned because if I send these offers via an email newsletter or when people go to them from my landing page it can effect the domain reputation and how people view my offers.

What do you think? Anything to worry about or not an issue?

Oh please don't ask me which CPA network. I will not bad mouth anyone nor revile names. In fact I can't remember which CPA network it was in

I would get in touch with your AM and let them know the situation.

It is unlikely any offer has a trojan built in and may possibly just be an overactive firewall, but let your AM know before you send it out so they can double check everything for you.

Well if you are ever opening downloads from an untrusted source/running uncertified java applets then there is always a chance. It is possible but unlikely to have either of these occur in a CPA offer.

Trust me, there's a lot of cheaper sources for virus downloads for the advertiser if they were having that downloaded. Something is wrong with the site, but yeah contact the AM.

This has been more and more of a problem with email submits lately. The'ye not distributing viruses or anything like that. The antivirus programs are identifying them as false positives because certain people have been complaining... it's not really Avast's place to be regulating CPA offers, but the only thing to do is talk with your AM.

As for your reputation taking a hit from promoting these offers to your list, I certainly see your concern. Also, if you run any paid traffic to these offers, a significant number of your clicks will be blocked (but you'll still be paying for them.) Best to stay away from any offers that trigger your Avast to go off.

Now more than ever, it's crucial that you preview every offer that you plan to promote with avast turned on.

Well, we have been facing that problem lately as well. It is likely a false alarm pretty much. These days, certain AVs are blocking some mass URLs based on the way they are getting reported.

So for example, if someone is spamming an email submit offer on fb or twitter, users report those URLs to their AV companies. As a result, they block those URLs, and in which case yours could be a false alarm.

That being said, it also depends from advertiser to advertiser. Not saying that everyone is trying to infect or anything, but hey it could be a possibility.

Like Adevictus mentioned, there could be java applets AKA java drive-bys with malicious codes integrated. Heck, even silent ones that don't even appear to be as a driveby. So yeah there can be any asynchronous vb pharmers/rts stuffed in the final LPs.

    Just be careful

I actually sent avast a false positive report on a cpa offer link and got this respond.

      Hello,
it looks that it is fake survey page. It is blocked correctly.
