How to check if the product actually sells alot

Hi,

I have just started working on affiliate marketing, i have few keywords in health niche (weight loss to be precise), with good search volume and easy to rank and even commission is also good.

I just want to know if there is any way to check how much it sells?

I just want to know from experienced what is their thought process in such conditions. I really need some expert guidance here.

Please move it to proper section if it is in wrong section.

Thanks

Here's how you can tell if it sells a lot:

    1. Check alexa ranking - Good ranking = site gets lots of traffic = someone can afford to spend money on marketing and keep it running, so there is cashflow somewhere

    2. Check affiliate sites ... lots of people promoting it? Someone is making cash

    3. Throw some good quality PPC at it ... if it converts well, keep it running. If not, move on.

That's how I do it, but then again I don't promote ANYTHING that gets me paid based on whether a customer actually buys something. I'm not willing to take all the risk while the merchant gets a free ride on my traffic ... naw-aw! We split that risk 50/50 ... hence me doing lead generation

Any questions just let me know,
    Nick

Thanks for your suggestion. I have used adsense till now and i will be using that too on my next projects. I dont understand completely the last part. Can you please explain little more about those things. I would really appreciate your help here. I am still in learning phase.

      Thanks

I'd start off by talking to my AM, you could also check for reviews of the product
