Newbie to FB Ads - help please

I've made a couple of FB with very limited audience (like 30,000). It quickly got to the point that each person had seen the ad 10 times... So I stopped them.

I made a new ad with an audience of 30,000,000. It has been active and running all day, but the "Reach" is only sitting at 900, and each one of those people has seen it 3 times!
Surely 30,000,000 people is enough that FB don't need to show it 3 times to each person, and they should finish my $10 budget within a few seconds.... So what's going on?

ugh...yeah advertising on facebook is a tough sell. Think about it ....most people are on FB to chat it up and bs all day. They see those ads on the side, but mostly they are ignored. Yeah sure there are those that are making the FB platform work for them, however, what I have found is that you need to think in terms of grabbing leads from there and putting them into your sales funnel. And you need to have a bigger budget to test and tweak. I think also that there is a frequency feature with the FB platform......where you can specify how many times your ad is shown to one user.

You might want to try Plenty of Fish (POF) and run some ads on there. POF's targeting is freakin killer and you can test so many things until you find a winner.

      Thanks for that.

We are targeting engaged people... So Plenty of Fish might make that difficult!

I can understand why not many people would click on our advert... But why isn't FB showing it to more people? It has a potential audience of 30,000,000 and after 1 day they only showed it to 900 people - why haven't they used my entire daily budget?

Your daily budget, and your overall campaign budget play a role in this.

FB ads doesn't serve as much traffic as possible all at once. They will serve your ads evenly throughout the whole day. So if you have have a $10 budget, FB will be serving traffic very slowly, and pacing it so that at the end of the day you spend $10. Increasing your budget will fix this problem.

Another problem that can cause this, is your bid, if you're bidding CPC.

For CPC, if you bid high enough, Facebook will initially send out 2000-3000 impressions to test out whether people respond (click) to your ad. If you have a low CTR, or no clicks at all, they will stop serving impressions.

This happens because they get paid per click, If your ads don't get clicked, fb is not making money, and basically they're wasting impressions on you.
You can get more impressions by upping your bid.

What I prefer doing is setting it to CPM, so that you won't have to deal with FB's CPC algorithms.

I´d recommend bidding more and making your ads hard to miss.
You can use neon green or red borders so that people would notice them more.
I usually received a 30 to 50% increase in CTR with adding noticable borders.

Also sometimes it is better to have pictures that are harder to understand so that people will start to look @ them and trying to find out, what that is. They get interested and you might receive traffic.

Bigger ctr = lower cpc for you.

It's because some of people did not open Facebook.
and You shouldn't target too board. There are lots of newbie make this mistake. If you can not reach enough impressions, simple increase the bid. if the CTR is great, you can decrease your bid easily.

The target audience around 10,000 - 25,000 would be great.
