Success Banner Advertising Outside Your Niche?
I can't help but think that if you compared the pluses of advertising in your niche - mine is home business/online marketing -
- targeted traffic to the website
- high conversion rate on your squeeze page
- targeted buyers
Negatives
- There are 8 other banners on the site all competing for the same thing!
- More chance of customer already having seen your product
Why not say.. advertise on a golfing site? Golfers want more freedom to spend time on the course right? Your landing page might catch them a little more left field, which could be a good or bad thing depending on how much effort you put into making it congruent with the banner that was clicked on.
This is my first day breaking the mould and lashing out into a brand new niche to advertise my business. I decided to go with a travel website - Beautiful Places to Visit - Photos and Information as it suits the graphic on my banner and the landing page matches the theme of travelling.
Even though I'm selling an internet marketing-coaching program, people who love to travel would probably also be interested in a business that allows them more freedom right?
At least that's my theory! If you take a look, my ad is the "too much work not enough play"... I know it's not the greatest banner but I was in a hurry to test this out.
Please let me know your thoughts and experiences with cross advertising like this.
