I've been lurking around this area of the warrior forum for a couple of days now and I've decided to take the dive into ppc advertising and would like to start with Facebook advertising. I just have a couple of questions that I could really use some help with.

Should I start off by direct linking to the offer? ( can I even do this)

What is the purpose of cloaking a link?

When I do set up a landing page is it best to use a Facebook page or a regular Wordpress landing page?

Hey Chris! I'm feeling generous tonight, so here's my input.

    1) I honestly wouldn't ever start off by direct linking offers when diving into Facebook advertising. There's so much you can do with a landing page to work towards turning it into something that unlocks the best stream of income possible.

    2) Cloaking is usually done in order to help ads get through the approval process. You should always use a tracking link when running a campaign on the CPC or CPM model so that you have the data right there at your hands.

    3) I would use Wordpress to be honest. That's just my personal preference and it's easier to create an astonishing layout that wows your visitors.

    I hope that helped!

Chris - are you working with any affiliate network? If you do - who do you work with?
FB marketing can be fun - but it can be devastating as well. Make sure you're working with the right guys.

I just signed up and got approved with maxbounty right now. I was thinking about targeting the sports betting niche. Does facebook allow this? If not is there a way around this to where they would still approve my ads? Also, are there any other affiliate networks you guys would recommend?

Don't use Wordpress. It's slow and clunky. Use an HTML landing page as they're easier to edit and change around with some basic html/css skills. Wordpress is great for blogs and portfolios, but I'd leave them at just that.

I've created a free landing page thread here: http://www.warriorforum.com/ad-netwo...ry-monday.html

As for cloaking, I do it to get things approved as some affiliate networks redirect based on the visitors country. If the ad approval staff viewing your ad is in a country other than the one you are targeting they could get redirected to a different offer. I know there was some news going around that a regular dating offer was being redirected to an adult dating offer that got a lot of people banned from FB, so be careful with that and be careful with cloaking!

Also, on LP's, avoid affiliate marketing on Facebook Pages. They don't like it. If you set up a content page and pop some affiliate links on there from time to time that's cool, but if your spamming the heck out of it, expect trouble.

    1) Using a LP will increase your conversions, but since are you just starting, if you may have trouble getting/editing one, you could also direct link...depends on the offer.

    2) Good explanations above

    3) Wordpress is not really good for simple LP. You better get a free LP and edit it. You need just very basic css and html skills for that, you can learn them very quick and will help you in the future a lot.

Yes, it's better to start direct linking. It will allow you to work with few metrics and learn the basics of the platform.

What is the purpose of cloaking a link?
This way you don't use the affiliate link directly, which may have been blacklisted by FB. Also, you can use a script to solve the geo-redirection problem and/or track the campaign.

I don't like WP for landing pages. I recommend you to use a fan page or a normal HTML page. WP can work with some plugins, but it's not my favortie option.
