Possible List Building Idea

Hi WF,

I have a website that is starting to build a decent presence / ranking and as a result is getting some decent traffic. I have Adsense on the website but feel I could be building a list to help increase my revenue generating potential.

I've never built a list before, I have an idea as to a free pdf download, could I get people to signup for this PDF? is that the basic principle of building a list? offer something in return for people signing up and leaving their email.

Happy to stand corrected here and any advice offered would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

P

The basic principle of building a mailing list is basically to create online relationships and trust with those individuals on your list so that when they want to purchase something, they may purchase it from you rather than from someone else’s website. In this way, it somehow helps to boost your earnings. Just make sure that the individuals in the database are interested in your niche. There are also ways of getting someone to sign up to your list. As a token of their loyalty, you might have to offer them freebies and other things of great value to them. This is just one way of keeping your customers or subscribers so they won't think twice to keep you also on their to-do list.

    Good question ASPG!

Your on the right path. Offer something of value and free. Build a long term relationship and continue to offer more valuable content and then pitch your affiliate/own product now and then. Build a massive list and then monetize that list further by ad swapping or even selling solo ads. But start off by making money from the affiliate commissions from the products you pitch to them.

    This is my strategy:

Pick a hot niche > do some keyword research > buy a domian > Set up a Squeeze page > set up an email series auto responder, making sure that you have optimized your email series= profit.

Remember, when you have an optimized system in place which works, the whole process is automated. So it requires some good thought and work from the outset.

      Thanks ProServices!

I think it confirms my original thinking - makes a nice change! haha
So if I was to offer free pdf that when people want to download they have to submit their email address? Would this be a step in the right direction?

I need to do some research in to a squeeze page as never done one and do you have any examples of auto responder? Do I need to purchase one?

      Thanks again,

      P

You don't necesarry need a PDF to build a list.

for CPA, you can say: enter your email address to win a free iPad
and then redirect to a ipad CPA offer.

for Amazon, you can say enter your email address to get a 40% discount
on XX product. Of course you need to find a product that is recently discounted
40% on Amazon and simply rediirect (through your affiliate link of course) to that page.
        Now you are collecting buyers.

The above strategy worked very well for me. I had a Makeup blog and used this technique. Trust me, female audience simply love to buy

Think outside the box, there are endless of ways collecting email addresses.

Appreciable. I have one more. To get mail list subscribe option on website most informative page. Or you can show a POP window while opening your website on client browser and ask them for subscribe.

    Cheers!

Yes aspg, your correct. You drive traffic to your squeeze page and when they submit their name and email address, they get your free pdf from another page on the same squeeze page website. So for my clients, I built the squeeze page with killer headlines, text, colors, fonts, video, converting arrows and an opt in form etc. When they submit their name and email address, they get sent the free report which I set up on another page within that squeeze page. It's working for my clients.

You will need an auto responder and the ones I recommend to all my clients is Aweber for some solid reasons. Remember you can create a free squeeze page and a free auto responder but your business will not lift off as I've tried it myself. Having a highly optimized squeeze page and a proper auto responder like aweber, your conversions will be a lot higher, you will build credibility and build a long term business.

Like everyone else is suggesting, to build a list you need to provide some sort of value to the person who will be leaving your their name and email addy. Just saying click here is not going to work. You need to be specific about a niche and then provide something for free related to that niche that you think will be of value.

Then as people subscribe you want to make sure you have an email campaign set up so that your autoresponder emails them regularly so you stay in their face. You dont want to spam them either. Offer them advice on your niche, free content, etc and then 1 out of every 5-7 emails throw a pitch in their to an affiliate link so that they can buy and you can monetize.

Now a great way to keep them dedicated to you and have them find you as a person of authority and expert status is when you build a list in your niche, hold a webinar related to your niche. For example if your niche is internet marketing, you can hold a webinar on list building and at the end offer them a product that can help them with their list building. You should also do video training or webinar with just free training, if you constantly try to sell then they will notice that and stop opening up your emails.

The key to remember is to always provide free content to your list but never ever stop staying in touch with your list because out of sight out of mind. They will quickly forget who you are if you dont stay in their face every so often
