I was thinking of starting up a GPT site using ShiftCode script, and I was wondering how good is it at detecting fraud users? What can I do to help detect fraud users? And also how is fraud determined on the upper levels (affiliate network, companies with the surveys/offers)?

Yeah, use incentive networks. They will detect fraud themselves and remove bad leads. Or if you are looking at more professional network then consider implementing IP Database, but it cost more than 1k+ . If you are looking into this drop me a Pm.

I mean how do the incentive networks detect fraud users? Because don't GPT sites get into trouble with their affiliate network if they have too many users enter fraud information on the offers?

The best fraud detection and prevention with a GPT site is your eyes, your brain, and your gut. It takes constant monitoring of your site to make sure that members who register are using valid information, that they aren't switching IP addresses and signing up again, and, that certain offers aren't being done at a rate that's out of the ordinary. That takes care of the eyes and brain. Now, here's where the gut comes in. If something just doesn't feel right or seem right, or look right, it probably isn't.

How do you determine if the user is entering fraud information?

For some things it's quite obvious with the registration information such as First Name listed as xxxx and Last Name listed as xxxx, etc. Right there, you know that's bogus. Terms state that valid information needs to be provided when registering. Something like that is a pretty sure bet that they're not legit and that they're going to try and fraud the site. IP addresses need to be checked initially and periodically to make sure VPNs aren't being used. After doing this for a while, it becomes much easier to spot the problem sign-ups.

Thanks for all of your help! So I know for filling out offers some people enter in an address of a real place (like a park) as their own address and a disposable phone number as their own number. How often are offers able to detect that the user is entering fraudulent information like this? Would the owner get in trouble for this?

The advertiser who put out the offer is the one who finds out if the information provided is bogus or not. Some of them have software to detect it and others know it's fraudulent when they try to contact the users. They also use their eyes, brain, and gut, as I mentioned previously, when looking at reports. And, yes, the site owner who's running the offer can get into trouble and so can the network that gave the offer to the site owner. A fraudulent lead here and there is going to happen, but if bots are found or the fraud happens too frequently, offers will be reversed and the network can lose their account with the advertiser and the site owner can lose their account with the network.
