Hey guys/gals,

Is your opinion when setting up an ad to run on FB, is it better to do the Cost per click option or the Cost per 1000 impressions option? I'm trying to figure out the best way to get the most bang for my buck and the hghest Click thru ratio (CTR)

Having used both I would honestly say that impressions count for nothing on Facebook. I had a company force me to pay for a month's Facebook marketing for another company I had after they gave me a decent introductory deal (and then wouldn't let me cancel after when I should have been able to!)
Anyway my point is that while that ad got about 60,000 FB ad impressions, I didn't get anything out of it and since they sorted it out i didn't even have a measure of its effect. On the other hand I set up my own ad on Facebook for PPC and at least when I paid, it was for a click, not the number of impressions. You do need to factor in a decent high end bid to make sure you get seen but if your call to action is good then the clicks will turn a profit for you. Impressions won't necessarily make you anything except for being seen.

99% of the time CPC, especially when testing ads. When using CPC facebook will deliver your ads to a higher quality audience(those who click more).

I heard that FB is pretty much dead, their guidelines are really strict. The only thing you could promote would be fan pages and your site without affiliate offers... Tons of traffic there, not sure how to use that to make money.

  Facebook ads are awesome once you what to sell on it. Best for CPA offers and promoting FB pages and getting likes. Testing obviously plays a very big part in the success of your campaign. Testing different ad copies, images and call to action. You should set out some cash for testing in CPC and when you know your heroes set them out for CPM and do the killing.
