Monetizing Classifieds Website

Hey fellow warriors!

Just wondering what you would do in this type of situation.

I am almost finished with putting together a classifieds listing website.

I will primarily monetizing via paid classifieds however I will have space available for ad spots.

I am wondering in your experience what it is you would use to monetize these vacant ad spots?

Would you use an in house system (which I can do) by selling ads to people in my industry?

Would you use like a third party type service?

Buy/Sell ads etc...?

Other publisher networks....?

There are many options and to be honest I feel a little overwhelmed.

On other sites before I had used adsense and found it not to be a good monetization method unless the site is specifically designed for adsense or unless there are millions of visitors per day.

I have also been approached by a private publisher network on one of my old sites and I found them to be great meaning I got paid high amounts (usually $10 per text link) but the only problem was that they did not have that much to feed me.

What would you do?

    If I was in your position I'd start by using CPA ads, publisher networks, affiliate products, then once the site got traction you can start offering paid advertisements on your site. Good luck!

      Hi and thanks for the reply.

      The industry my classifieds site is in is Greyhound Sales and they do not have any related CPA offers from my understanding.

      Im also not a fan of any of your typical Internet Marketing monetization models i.e. CPA, I have my own reasons. *EDIT* lol

      Im am only gathering traffic for targetted opt ins on the domain at the moment for the early bird list, all the traffic is 100% organic and I have done absolutely no paid marketing or advertising.

      However when I launch, from my research into competitors I believe I could generate approx 60K visitors per month to start off with and then as I go I am obviously optimistic but because the niche is tight I have no idea.

        Well, there are tons of marketers that love Craigslist traffic. (Personally, I've built some nice AdSense Blogs with Craigslist traffic.)

        I would just try to link up with them once you get things up and running.

        You could probably just make another post.

    Just sell ads and use PayPal to collect the money. It shouldn't be too hard to get it setup.

    Post an ad to FeeAdsTime.com in major cities such as Chicago Classifieds, San Diego Classifieds and Los Angeles Classifieds.

      Yeah I will probably do this in the beginning but then I want it as fully automated as possible even if that means giving a share of the revenue to a third party that manages it all for me as long as there is always money coming in you see.
