Please Help Exlpain the AdWords Results

Hi,
I'm a web developer and a general dentist and I sell a physical book for dentists for $299. To avoid sticker shock with AdWords, I list the $299 price in the ad.

The landing page is my sales page for the book, which is also my non-AdWords landing page. The page converts ok for non-AdWords, but I've never converted an AdWords visitor.

If they are clicking the ad with the $299 price in it, does that imply that they are not afraid of that price? And if they are not afraid, is it that they are not seeing value? The sales page does convert, but most of the conversions from the sales page are from a dental forum I post regularly, and from my newsletter.

For whatever it's worth I'm also trying the same ads but directing right to the purchase page as a landing page to see if that makes a difference.

Any input is much appreciated!
Thanks.

In a nutshell they don't see value and/or you haven't built enough trust. Over time posting in a forum or doing a newsletter you build up trust with people so they buy. However, cold sales page traffic you have to build value and trust more. PM me the page and I can take a look.

How much traffic have you driven from Adwords? Also what type of keywords?

Not a ton. Probably 50-100 click-thrus. It's a nice product so I only have a handful of keywords but they are VERY specific.

Try using some videos to build more rapport.

How many people have gotten 4+ emails deep into your newsletter?

Build a list, market to that list.

Putting the price in the ad rarely works.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean? Can you elaborate? And would the videos be about the product? On the sales page? Or a dedicated landing page with videos about the book?

I already have a list that I am building and marketing to, I thought that via AdWords I could pick up a few sales. And if putting the price in doesn't work, why am I getting decent clicks on the ads with the price? My niche is dentists so $299 is not unreasonable.

Just look at what landing pages in other niches are doing for similar products.

Stock exchange stuff comes to mind...
