Applying to CPA networks. Website or not?

I am just getting my foot in the door with CPA and the current course I am taking says to make a website before I even apply to the networks. I've read a few other e-books from authors who seem to be big names around the Warrior Forum and some have said that you do not need a website when applying.

Do you think it is essential to have a website built before applying or can I just explain on the phone to the affiliate manager that I will be using PPC and media buys to push traffic to direct offers? Or various landing pages I will create.

Thanks

You don't need one, but it often helps. If you don't have one just tell the network why you don't and tell them how you plan on driving traffic to their offers (this is very important)

    Thanks for the answer.

I won't have a landing page until I get an offer to promote though. So what sort of website should it be that I make for applying to the networks?

Hi CailMoney- A website isn't important to signup with A CPA Network.

In order to get approved into any CPA network. You need to give them satisfactory answers thats it!

A network actually wants to know How you will be driving traffic and Do you really understand what you will be doing..

It is quite similar like a Job-Interview

Employer wants to know If you know about the company and will you be profitable for them or not

    Regards

For me, I think that webites help me alot to get approved into CPA networks. As an Asian, I'm hard to have direct communication through phone calls because I could just write and stand English through words not good at direct conversation. I just prove that I have quality traffic for their offers and go without any intervention when applying and approving.

For the kind of sites, it should be landing page, squeeze page, niche blogs, etc. Just make sure it's not warez sites or illegal adult sites.

For most CPA networks you won't need it but many of the big rev share and CPS networks will want you to have a website. Generally the type of networks that require a website are designed for publishers that own high-traffic sites, not advertisers or SEOs.

I always just submitted my personal site then followed up later in the day with a phone call. BY FAR the biggest concern of most CPA networks is that you're a real person who they can contact directly and verify, since most networks get a lot of applications from fake people (stolen identities, basically) that are used to push fraudulent leads.

If I put up a site with just a landing page with an optin (you know, the usual) what can I offer to make people that go to it signup by giving their name and email? Or are the contents usually provided for?

Like for example if I apply at peerfly stating that I have a website with a landing page with an optin, will they give me something to give away to those who gives their name and email? We do get paid if we are an affiliate of peerfy and someone signs up in our page right?

What most CPA networks want is a legit person that doesn't hide behind a pen name and isn't going to "ruin" their network with spam/scam traffic.

Just being honest will get you a lot further then talking you way into the network, like most people tend to do without much knowledge of CPA.

You are going to spend/waste money on their network, they earn profit from that.

Whether you are a beginner or a expert just be straight forward with your plans. Having a website has nothing to do with the way you want to promote CPA offers and they know that.

I always include my Skype and just ring them up.

Always remember that you are the one putting your time and money on the line, the trust has to come from both sides. Instead of "hopefully" getting in you need to change your mindset to "is this network worth my money", "are their offers any good?", "Are they trustworthy?" etc etc

Don't worry, when you start learning more about CPA this will automatically change.

My first couple times applying I did not have a website and always got approved. As said above, just be honest and explain to them you will be using paid traffic for now. Giving them a call after sending your application is also a good idea.

I always put PPC and then put Bing as the URL. Once you have submitted the application, call the company to explain your background and how you will be promoting. Say you will be setting up custom landing pages for any campaigns that prove profitable.

When I was applying in CPA networks, I did the url of my personal blog... but I emphasized that I would focus more on sending paid traffic (PPC) to the offers.

      This is a great thread.

Just quickly though.... living internationally. What did you guys use to make the call?
Are your phone rates cheap enough to make international calls? It would cost me about $20 a minute :S

Would skype be okay to make the phone call?

      Thanks

That's also possible if they use Skype call!

That's too expensive! My international call is only 7.5 cents/minute.
You could alternatively try contacting the right person of that networks with their contact details such as: AIM, Skype, Email etc.

Although most networks will ask for a website you have create, it's not really needed.

I do foresee that you may get reject early by most networks, but just contact them directly and explain to them how you are going to promote the offers. Most networks just prefer experience marketers and not marketers who are going to spam their offers with lousy traffic

the only reason they ask for website is that they want to check whether you have experience in the internet marketing and whether you are familiar with basic web technologies..
