Source of LeadImpact views (what do users download to see them)?

I was wondering what do users download to their computer and from where to get the ads to pop up from leadimpact?

    As far as I know the user has to install an adware first along with some free stuff. It's the hotbar (bad request on the site recently) or clickpotato and totallyfunfreestuff I guess.

    I'd like to see what my competition is doing as well, and to see what kind of traffic we are dealing with, but it seems installing the adware on a virtual machine just does not cut it. I'm not getting any popups. Any advice on that folks?

      That is what I'm trying to check out just to see what it is and how it works. I do have a virtual machine on my mac and it's not working.

      So we need to get a windows machine to install the adware?

        I don't think there's much difference between a "second pc" or a virtual machine. At least there is no such adware that can recognize it. No way.

    Toolbar installs, totallyfunfreestuff & clickpotato.

    Just install them on an extra PC or your main one if you are brave, and see what happens.

    How does this work out in practical terms?. I presume it does not pop every time you go to a url or type in a keyword. so are you supposed to keep browsing around until eventually the pop up does appear - that doesn't seem very practical. Maybe I have it wrong and it does pop up straight away. I suppose you could also get a cheap vps to install this on.
