My TrafficVance experience thus far..

After being referred in by a business associate (yay LinkedIn) I've now been with TV for a full month, and my experience has been good thus far. It was a learning curve like anything else, but I'm focusing on intext and the results have been promising. They have a clean, reactive GUI and my campaigns are approved fairly quickly. I also like that I can CALL someone at TV should I have an account issue, pretty cool when I've only spend a few grand (unlike AdWords, where you have to be a baller to get any love)

That said I had a few open questions I wanted to throw out there and see what you think!
  • TV claims that their traffic is from their online gaming sites and media publishers. Looking at traffic estimations of their game sites, and installing their software, I can't imagine that produces the majority of the traffic, and I havent found a single content publisher that partners with TV. Has anyone else? Am I missing something? Do they buy other peoples traffic and mix it in?

  • Transitionals / Interstitials - I don't use them, but does anyone else here? They seem kind of sketchy, and I love the performance of intext (so far!) but wanted to see if anyone else was getting success from this tactic...

You need to understand they are PPV network ,

on PPV ads are typically served as a result of adware being installed on a user’s computer. If you advertise on a PPV ad network you are essentially advertising within adware. When the user takes a specific action within their browser, such as searching or going to a URL, a new instance of their browser opens up with your landing page in it. You are charged every time this happens.

I stick with URL PPV pops personally. Pick 10 big volume URLs and test them fully.

I my first campaign I used 1500 URLS an got over 500 optins in the first day of my campaign. Optins came in almost at a 50% optin to view rate.

Can you tell me why is it better to concentrate on 10 high volume URLS like you use in your strategy. What is the thinking on this?

I don't think you have to worry too much about TV, they have pretty good quality traffic and the customer service is good.

As for your traffic source info, it comes from installed adware (ad supported software). Anyone that has that adware installed gets the intext ads or pops rolling on sites or keywords that advertisers are targetting, but at a very limited pace. If I targeted WarriorForum.com and 100 people go there that have the adware installed, not every single one would get a pop up. I believe TV has said the average PC user will get 3-5 pops per day. I'm not savvy on the amount of text links allowed to show per page.

Anyone have any experience using TV or other PPV networks for non IM and non CPA type offers? I'm thinking of dipping my toe in the water for an events ticket site I own (Concerts, Sports, Theater etc.) but don't want to waste my time and money. Thoughts?

Are you targeting certain markets (i.e., Los Angeles)?

If so, I would definitely give it a shot. You aren't going to get a boatload of traffic, but it will be so cheap that it's worth trying

Unless you have a problem paying the $1k entry deposit

Thanks. Yeah, I could definitely target by cities/locations. Is there some reason TV is a good choice for targeting markets by location? $1K is a bit steep to dip my toe in the water. Any cheaper alternatives worthwhile?

Speedy explained the first question, as for the second - I've tried most of what tv offers but I only consistently run popups from them, they just work better for me
