Help me project a possible CTR

Hey guys.

I was just wondering, if you could help me with a low estimate of the CTR on this type of campaign:

Location:
http://webmailbb.juno.com/

(Note: The captcha box forces people to stay longer even if they have their password saved)

Banner:

Thanks alot !

Best regards,
Christian H

There are so many parameters that play a role in the CTR you get and the overall campaign performance, that would be really difficult to estimate your CTR with so little parameters.

Some of the things that matter:
-Whether you're advertising on relevant placements
-Creative size and type. I'd suggest you to create at least one 728x90 and one 160x600 creative. Split test different creatives!
-Whether the ad spot is located above or below the fold
    -Geolocation that you're targeting
    -Frequency Cap
    -Device the viewers are using
    -Much more...

I actually have 2 similar banners in those 2 dimensions, which I'm also planning to use.

      I'm targeting the US
The 300x250 is above the fold, I'm quite sure the others are aswell.
The 300x250 is the login box for a news source forum.

What do you suggest for a frequency cap?
      I'm targetting web devices only.

I was thinking of a test with 250,000 total impression, as that is aproxx what the minimum investment of 500$ will get me.

Do you recommend uploading ALL my different banner variations and run a test on ALL of them, if so, how many impressions do you recommend that I test with?

From my personal experience both as an advertiser, and as someone who works with clients doing display advertising, just slapping a couple of generic banners and selecting a few placements will result in a failure 99% of the time. I'm not being pessimistic by telling you this, I'm being very realistic.

Upload as many creatives as you have, the more you split test, the better. Animated/Flash banners can be very effective when done correctly, so have some of those as well.

You need to truly engage your audience, in order to get a good ctr and conversions. Exploit their interest

I wrote a short guide that might help you:

As far as the frequency cap is concerned I'd suggest you to start off with a frequency cap of 1, and depending on how the traffic performs and the volume of traffic, increase it to 3 if you feel as if you need more traffic.
