How To Start A New POF Campaign?

I'm running some new campaigns on POF. I have 40 images split between 4 different age groups with 3 different headlines. That's a total of 480 different ads.

If I let each ad run for about 1500 impressions before I start cutting the ones with no clicks, I'd have to spend about $360 just on initial testing (bidding $0.50).

So here's what I've been thinking. Since the ad image drives more clicks than anything else, maybe I should split test the images first across the 4 different age groups, then when I find some winning images, I could then use those images to split test the headlines.

I think I would save some money up front and still get some reliable data.

So I basically want some feedback from people advertising on POF. Does this make sense or do you think the headlines have a bigger impact than I'm thinking. Should I split test headlines up front or do you think I'll be fine focusing on just images to begin with?

I don't claim to be an expert at this (I've only been at it for a month myself), but my approach is basically the same as yours. I test my images first, then I test my headlines/copy using only the "good" images.

yes, that is a good way to save money.

I'll test 2 headlines max when starting out first.

I tested by bidding of $0.40 for CPM. once I have enough data, i dropped it to $0.16 and let it run through.

It sounds like you might be too tightly targeted, but other than that small issue your plan sounds good

Definitely loosen up your targeting, and if you still can't get enough volume without going too broad for your offer...then you might want to change demo/offer altogether.

High CTR doesn't necessarily mean great conversion rates. I tend to find testing the other way around gives me an idea of what actually performs better.

You could have an amazing "big chest" image get approved that has a crazy CTR, but it doesn't mean anything if it doesn't convert which can tend to happen. In fact, some of my best ads are just normal looking men and women - because the user connects better with them than a model, and because most dating sites aren't just a place you go to look at women with big boobs.

I test 10 ad copies, with 10 - 25 images. 1000 impressions per ad max, then analyze the results. Conversion data is much more important to me than click through data. Just pick your images carefully and you should be okay.

Make sure you are running with a landing page that carries on your message, too.
