POF: feedback pls. Good CTR, bad conversion

Hi,

I need some feedback on how to proceed with my campaign. I've started testing images and copies and total CTR is 0.14%, I can improve this by cutting images and copies that perform weak. However I'm not getting conversions.

I've had 1 cupidswand conversion with a different campaign I know the tracking etc is working.

So my thought on what I can do:
- Try different offer (ok, no brainer. Ill try this)
- Build a landing page
- Drop the campaign and find a target that is more narrow.

Any feedback is welcome, thanks!

By the way, if there are any other POF beginners and want to discuss strategies , please send me a PM!

LOL told you i was a new to all this !! But to be honest i`m in profit i did $23 yesterday not much i know, But i`ve never had a single conversion with male traffic its all been single females.
But from my very small experience you gotta niche it down mate that targeting is way to wide and no landing page to even try to narrow it alittle.
Tell you the traffic can be quite cheap but it still adds up..FAST

Ok, any advice on how to make this campaign more narrow? Or is it better starting over with a niche angle and offer?

I've tried that same offer (Cupid's Wand) and in my experience it just doesn't convert very well. I'd recommend a different offer.

And I think you're right that you need a more narrow angle for your campaign. POF has tons of targeting options that can be used...height, religion, drinking habits, smoking habits, interest in games, ethnicity, education, career, etc.

Again from my limited experiance its more easy to target a niche dating offer in the first place ie `Asian, Gay, Big girls ect etc.. The other way the more seasoned guys do it is just create a landing page using Doctors or Fireman or single Mums/Dads build the landing page with all pics of Doctors and kind of make out that the site your sending them to has ALOT of doctors as members (although it doesnt)

Then in your Ads use a picture of a Doctor with the copy `Would You Date A doctor`

So the POF searcher is seeing a Ads `would you date a doctor`, Clicking the Ad and going to a landing page with loads of pics of Doctors, And then when the click though they do just finish on a generic offer from say Cupidwand or Mate1 .. Thats it !! abit lame really lol

If i were you, i'd remove the marital status criteria...If they're on POF, they're looking. Period. lol

Also, CupidsWand isn't the greatest converter(quite suck actually), everytime i've splittested it with another known broad offer (like match, true, Mate1) it showed that it converted badly...

I would also remove from your copy the "What do you have to love?" part...it would make your ad look less "heavy" and long to read quickly for users.

You are ad's CTR is great, you targeting is fine. (Although you may have a lot more competition after sharing that.)

You need to focus on making a great LP and finding a solid offer to go with it.

You need to learn how to make dating landing pages.

Just thought i`d show you a landing page for `Cops` the POF ad had a image of a cop with `Would you date a cop` as the title and as you can see the landing page just goes to a Mate1 offer which has absolutly nothing to do with Cops lol

How many different ad variations have you tried? You may need to just keep testing between different ad texts, ad titles and images to get the ctr up.

Try and throw in some 310x110 ads instead of the text ads. Seems like your offer just isn't converting though.

Sounds like it's the lander if your not getting conversions. CTR is decent tho.

All the advice here has been pretty petty and BS signature spam posts. What a joke.

Here is whats up. You are targeting the same thing everyone else is, with the same style of ad, same ad copy, same picture same old same old that this person has seen at least 500 other times already.

What is making your ad stick out anymore than anyone elses? Nothing.

.14% is low. Really low. Can you make money off that? I suppose if you are bidding low enough and you've found a ridiculously well converting dating offer, sure. But unless you have your own dating site, you won't make money, I'm 99% sure of that.

Targeting 24 - 29. Good luck keeping your quality up. Stick to 30+ for male traffic to make sure you won't get booted off an offer

Other than that, your targetting is super broad. Have you looked into the plethora of targeting you can do on Plenty of Fish. Short men, tall men, skinny men, fat men, white men, black men, red heads, blondes, green eyes, blue eyes, Christians, Buddhists, blue collar, white collar, students, graduates, car owners, cat lovers, smokers, drinkers, on and on and on.

Want your ad to stick out and grab a user - make your campaigns smaller, call them out in the ad, and give them a reason to click your ad? "Did you know we have 47 live users searching for 31 year old, short men with blue eyes now?"

Wow, that's pretty damn gripping, ain't it. The traffic will be low, but your conversion rates and CTRs will be huge, especially when you tie in a landing page that gives the same message.

Smaller campaigns are the ones that dominate in PoF. You're going to need a lot of them to make more money, but you'll have more chances of making 20 small campaigns that do $20 a day of profit each rather than making 1 campaign that does $100 per day of profit with such broad targeting and bland ad copy.

Most dating offers out there today are scrubbing to hell and back, so rotate through at least 10 offers across multiple affiliate networks. Hunt around and ask for private offers and try to go direct. If you have the time, white label your own dating sites or build out your own dating site. That is what I'm doing. It allows me to have landing pages that show exactly the users I want to see all on my own dating site domain with custom information passed through from offer to landing page.

If you are going to stick to broad targeting dating, be prepared to test hundreds of ad copies and thousands of images to get profitable at a reasonable level.

You're welcome. I hate the people that post one liners thinking that that is giving any true advice that will help anyone get anywhere, most of all when that one liner is just more proof that they have no idea what they're talking about.
