For some reason the thread I had going here http://www.warriorforum.com/ad-netwo...marketing.html was closed. No idea why, but I'm happy to continue answering questions.

Since I couldn't reply to the last questions in that thread, I'll post them here:

In PPC a landing page is very important. But in some PPV guide, i heard landing page is not an important factor in PPV traffic. Is this true?
Landing pages are very important. I use them most of the time, and rarely direct link.

"The advertiser's most profitable demographic is 35+ years old. This demographic is the most preferred" . This is a requirements for a Gaming Offer. How to target age in PPV Traffic. Is this actually possible ?
Unfortunately, you can't target specific ages with PPV marketing. What you can do is put an option on your LP to send the visitors over 35 to your main offer, and under 35 to an offer than will accept them.

Interesting thread, thanks for sharing it all.

Was curious about the landing page concept, can you recommend some free or paid templates that convert well (design-wise).

Do you write the sales letters yourself or do you outsource it? In case of outsourcing, how much do you pay for them? Or do you just use the landing page that the vendor is offering?

Last question, do you think a banner campaign would work for a monthly SEO service? I tried quiet a few things and it seemed like a total waste of money, although I don't properly keep track of things so it might've helped.
I usually just build the LP's myself, and make them very simple.

I don't use much text on my LP's at all. Usually just a headline, 3-4 bullet points, and a call to action. Long form sales letters don't work to well with PPV marketing.

Do you mean advertising your own SEO services with banner ads? Where would you advertise?

Can you use ppv traffic with commission junction and linkshare. Could you use a optin form to pop up on the targeted url and then send them the offer by email.

I agree learning to build landing pages is a fundamental skill of IM.

Just take the time to master it, it isn't too hard once you learn the right tools.

If you're going to use CJ, I would build a list with CPV then market to the list. I'm 99% sure they do not like CPV traffic.

Yeah, they don't like PPV traffic so I wouldn't risk it. You can collect emails with PPV traffic, and send them offers like you said.

Profitable for how long? An hour? A day? A week? A month?

I would say if I just built 10 random campaigns for different offers, maybe 2-3 would become profitable.

There's actually a way you can (kinda) target demographics... the key is you must do research on your URLs (targets). Get Quantcast demographic data and sites that have a heavy volume of visitors that are in your demographic, you bid on those URLs.

I have a couple clickbank campaigns running on Direct CPV. I had 1910 hits in my first 12 hours BUT!!! the hoplink from clickbank that I posted in my Direct CPV destination URL target is not allowing my ads to be seen. I am missing a step somewhere and any help is appreciated. I paused my CPV accounts until I get this figured out.

I don't recommend Direct CPV at all. I would stop your campaign there, and use another traffic source.

When you say 'not allowing your ads to be seen', what do you mean exactly?

@ppv affiliate i hope u are able to answer my question as it is geared towards general affiliate marketing question.
question: I see that a lot of members advice to build a list for cpa marketing but i notice that majority of the offers do not accept email traffic sources.. so what is the point of collecting list then if email traffic is not accepted? is there a way around this?

No way around it really. I wouldn't mail out offers that say 'no email' because you run the risk of not getting paid. What networks are you in? Most good networks have a decent selection of offers that can be mailed out

Building a list can be a really good thing, but it seems like most people don't have realistic expectations when building it. It's going to cost you a bit of money before the list starts paying off. It's a longer term investment, so you have to think of it that way. Unless your list is super niche focused, and you have a really good relationship with them, plan on getting around 500 subscribers before you see any kind of steady income.

        Hi David

Thanks in advance for answering these few newbie questions

        1. Does PPV mean Pay Per View?
Is this like facebook and google display network for the $x for a thousand impressions?
(sorry I'm not familiar with other networks and get confused with what CPA marketing is and whether it encompasses PPC)

        2. If one had their own niche product to promote, would they be better off being a 'publisher' and put out an offer for affiliates to promote? instead of doing it themselves?

        3. Re your affplaybook forum, do you and other experienced 'successful' members give direct individual advice for newbie campaigns?
If so, is this advice private or public to forum members?

        4. What is a realistic cost to starting out?
(Not sure what essential services are needed)
$300 fixed hosting tracking etc a month + $3k ad spend?

        Look forward to your reply
        Thanks!

Yes PPV = pay per view. Also called CPV = cost per view. It's pop up or under traffic. So, you bid on some keywords or url's then when someone visits those targets your ad will be shown.

What kind of product is it? Putting something on an affiliate network can be very expensive and you need a system to watch out for fraud in place. For some types of products, Clickbank is an easy way to get started. I would need to know the type of product to give more specific advice though.

Yes, it's done through the forum so that all members can give advice and suggestions.

You would need a VPS - I recommend Beyond Hosting. Their starter package is $45/month. You'll need at least 1 domain name to install tracking and host landing pages on. I would suggest using Prosper 202 when starting out since it's free.

For a budget to buy traffic, I would say a minimum is $500. This doesn't mean you stand a good chance of being profitable in that spend though. I've seen people who are, but I've seen even more that spend quite a bit more before finding something profitable.

    Hi David,

How long did it take you to start earning more than $100/day with PPV traffic? How much $ did you approximately invest to reach this income? Also, how many hours per week did you put to reach 100$/day?

I'm currently making around $50/day, and it has taken me ages to reach this stage.

I'm not sure..I would guess a month or so? I had been involved with online marketing for years though, so I wasn't a total beginner.

Questions like this are difficult to answer. Everyone is different. I've seen people hit $100/day in a few weeks, and others take months or never at all. Instead of focusing on some number like $100/day, focus on building campaigns.

Those are probably the best to start with. Once you have a lot of experience, you can find other pop traffic sources, but they will require more money for testing.

Keep it short and simple - I see people using way too much text. PPV is interruption marketing so you have to grab the users attention fast.

I find that people don't put much effort into the text on their LP. Really think about what your visitors are looking for, and put effort into it.

I think people build LP's without ever really thinking about actually 'selling' someone.
