Mentoring or CPA coaching?

Do you know which traffic sources you are interested in? If you're looking to learn from someone IMO you first need to select at least one traffic source you're interested in, this way you can pick someone who focuses in that area.

Make sure you have clear understanding of what the coach or mentor will do for you. Do not be surprised if you are given macro tasks to do and then report back for a 10 or 15 minute conversation (or email) once a week.

You will do a lot of work. The tasks will be similar to what you would have done had you followed the instructions of a good WSO. The only difference is that you will get some feedback on the tasks.

I remember some time ago in a private membership blog, a more senior person took someone under their wing.

They gave them tasks to do starting from niche selection. This was what you would call extreme hand holding. They would then tell him to write 5 articles for example, then he told them where to post them, etc. He checked each step to make sure it was correct. As long as the student was willing to do the work in a timely fashion he would continue to help him.

Over a period of about 3 months this newbie slowly built rank and traffic until they were making money. We all monitored it and learned quite a bit ourselves.

Is that what you are looking for? That real 1 on 1 experience? Don't hold your breath. Typically, the mentors I have come across are busy with their own businesses and mentor so they can put a few thousand extra in their pocket every month or two. They don't spend all that much time with you. If they have 8 students they can probably handle them in about 3 or 4 hours a week, maybe less.

As someone suggested, if you would post what you are interested in learning, traffic sources, etc, I am sure we could recommend a good WSO to start off with.

You might be better off with a few months of something like PPC Coach's membership, read everything there, get started and get feedback. If you out grow it, you can stop. But when you hit a wall, there are people, many of them knowledgeable to ask questions.

Try thinking of your experience as an investment in your future. Just because you are down money doesn't mean you are aren't farther ahead on your success journey. In fact, I can guarantee you are farther ahead because the best way to progress and learn is to make a few mistakes...which it seems you have.

Many people actually use this very forum to learn the fundamentals of CPA. Then it's a matter of simply rolling up the sleeves and digging your heels in. Take imperfect action and learn from every action you take and you'll baby step your way closer to the finish line.
