My Media Buying Tip For Finding Traffic Sources & Scaling

Look at what the top media buyers are doing in your market,
(if your a site owner look what similar site owners are doing).
(if your a affiliate look at what top affiliates are doing).

1) Pick 5 websites.

2) Look for trends in their creatives and landing pages/websites.

3) Pick the top 10 sources of traffic for each website and market your website to those top 10 sources of each website.

5 Websites. Top 10 Sources each. = 50 sources of traffic for your site.

(make sure they have been promoting at each source for 100+ days to ensure its a good source)

Im not going to explain how to do everything and spoonfeed you, if you genuinely take this tip seriously you can read between the lines and see what im saying and see how beneficial this is.

Hope this helps.

Great stuff! If may also add, you may do reverse engineering method or looking at the backlinks list for each of these sites. There are several useful tools you can use for you to do this one like Traffic Travis (free and full versions available).

True, that is a good method to reverse engineer for the seo people out there, you can also use moz and separate the backlinks by PR.

However my tip is mainly just for media buyers out there and works in any market whether your a beginner or a expert.

    Good tips!

The other thing is don't overcomplicate it. Media buying is not as complex as people want you to think. It's just buying ads on sites on a very basic level.

This is what Im trying to think what media buying is but when I read about it. its not that simple. Ive tried to find as much information about media buys before trying it. And from what Ive read its about testing and more testing ..plus other things like marketing at different angles (which I really don't understand yet) CTR gatering data ect..

I would like to give this a try I am with a few CPA networks and I know what traffic source I want to use but I guess Im afraid of losing money quickly. This is whats holding me back..

Hey junkda, the software companies they mentioned are all good.

But also check out follow.net, it's free to use and you can pull up a ton of competitive advertising data on any website that interests you. It covers almost every marketing vertical, seo, sem, display, contextual and social.

Follow.net | Follow your competitors online activity.
