My first REAL Facebook campaign

Alright, I am running a dating offer on Facebook. I chose a good angle and created a campaign targeted towards males 25-35, and 36-45. Here are my stats:

Campaign Reach:

3379

Frequency:

1.5

Clicks:

55

CTR:

1.072%

Total Spent:

$6.18

Are these decent stats? I have 0 conversions from this so far.

What are the stats per ad? That's what matters moreso then the entire campaign stats.

Well, Facebook is really only running 1 of my ads. I have four images per age group(so 8 ads total), and one ad has around 90% of the impressions and has around a 1.2% CTR. One other ad has around 350 impressions with 2 clicks which is like a .4XX CTR.

The other six have less than 20 impressions each, and zero clicks.

Your going to need more than $6 worth of data to make any good decisions.

Your data will tell you what to do if you watch, track, & analyze the data. Unfortunately it cost money to get data for you to make more educated decisions.

Do what you need to do until you make a sale. If you go 1.5X over the payout I would stop that particular keyword or whatever strategy your using

Are you using a landing page or direct linking?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[8502780].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author KINDLUTION
I'm using a fan page redirect to the offer's landing page. So, direct linking.

What is the offer type and offer payout?

You are going to have to test more than $6 to draw any real conclusions if you doing things "right" or "wrong".

The payout is $4.50, and it converts on a new user signup. So, if I have 0 conversions at this point(2x payout), should I rotate another offer?

You could or you can keep investing more in the same banner but make subtle changes maybe to your lp ... unless your direct linking that could be your problem.

Its not about finding the golden egg its finding out how to make the egg gold.

      1. I would start with testing the top 3 offers for your niche for 2x their payouts each.

      2. If none convert, test an LP for the one you think is best. If 1 converts, test an LP for that offer. (Test a Dating "Rules" LP, you'll see them all over Plenty of Fish. But make sure you make it look identical to the offer, most on POF don't do this good at all. Ad scarcity, pressure, geo-call outs at all important.)

      3. If no luck, tweak you demographic and angle a bit. Make sure you aren't going to general with things Facebook is really competitive for large demographics.

This is excellent advice. Follow this and you should see some conversions. When you do, tweak your demographics to better your chances of making a profit.

I would listen to "Greedy" on this one. Some great advice is given here.

Yeah I'm direct linking. I should build a landing page. So, the landing page should tie in the ad with the offer's landing page. So, I should make it similar to the offer's page, but tailor it to my angle....is that right?

That CTR is amazing. With a landing page, you should be able to do 15-20% so that would net you like 12 conversions by now for over $50 and a sick ROI!

Dave, I wish I was getting conversions like that lol. The key to getting that CTR is through the angle I'm using, and also targeting the interests/groups that would be associated with the angle I'm using.

Here's the final stats on the offer I paused while I wait for Peerfly to update my clicks:

      Reach:
      6,274
      Frequency:
      1.6
      Clicks:
      190
      CTR:
      1.905%
      CPC:
      .08

Peerfly only shows around 30 clicks right now. So, I'm hoping that I'll wake up with a conversion or two.

Thanks Greedy! I just created two more campaigns with the new offers. I had to tweak the age groups a little, but I think it will be ok. I'll update my stats tomorrow for the new offers.

I paused my other campaigns going to the first offer. I'm waiting on like 160 clicks to come through on Peerfly. Hopefully I can get a conversion out of those. My fan page actually got 15 likes from these campaigns even thought I was using a redirect, and the people like it are active on the page.

Alright, well I tried a different offer, but no conversions. I'm not sure what is going on. My CTRs are still pretty good. They lowered a little, but not much. I'm think that maybe people are clicking on the ad thinking that my page is where they can find their date. I'm in the dating niche and I made a page with pictures of hot girls. I use page tabs to redirect to my offer page. I've spent 1x the offer on this new one. Ill hit 2x the payout and then I'll try the third. If I don't get anything, I'll build a landing page to presell the offer.

On a side note, I have a 100 click discrepancy between my FB tracking and my Peerfly clicks. Anyone know why this is?

So you didn't have any problem getting the Ad approved? I've had troubles with 'hot girls' before

Yeah, I think so. I'm advertising towards males that like a certain activity. So, I geared my ad towards this.

Here's an example(not really my ad or angle, just an idea):

Headline: Tired of only golfing with guys?

Body: Find a new golf buddy, and impress your friends!

Then I would target males that like golf related groups, and I would break this down into she groups.

They've turned down a couple of new ones, but I'm not using racy photos. Also, I just edited one of my ads that was running before. I just changed the URL on the page tab redirect. Doing it this way means you don't have to worry about having to get it approved.

How do specifically redirecting from fanpage to offer page? Is it by fanpage post?

It's an app you can download. Ill post a link soon. Honestly, it's not working because people think that my page is for dating. So I've paused my ads and I will be building a landing page.

I'm trying to understand exactly how your doing this. From your first post I thought you made an ad directly to the CPA offer. Then I read on and it seems your ad is to get more likes on your page...is this correct?

Also where are you advertising your link? In your image you upload to the page? I thought it was this until you said you're using an app.

Just a little confused, let me know. Because I used Fan Page a lot to convert CPA offers. Im just not sure how your promoting them...either on your page with images, or with an app.

To me it makes more sense to attach them to images - so people share.

Technically, the ad is for my page. When the person clicks on the ad they are sent to a tab on my page that has an app installed which redirects them to my offer. I'm not sure how they are liking my page because they're supposed to go to the offer.

I'm promoting them through FB ads.

I took Greedy's post to heart. It has some great advice in it. I've started rotating my offers. Also, instead of using a redirect with the app, you can actually house your landing page within Facebook. So, I switched to that hoping to see some conversions. We will see. Patience, and testing...eventually this will pay off.

It's not really using the page to promote CPA offers. It's more of a way to get ads approved a lot more quickly, and also a way to direct link to offers. The likes I get aren't the goal.

So, I still haven't gotten any conversions. I've spent around $70 testing various ads, offers, etc. I'm a little stuck right now. I thought that maybe my ad was vague, and people were just clicking on it to find out what it was all about. So, I switched the text in order to make it known that you would be signing up for a dating website. Well, my CTR went waaaaay up. It's not a very big sample, but after 1500+ impressions, my CTR is 2.149%.

I don't know why I'm not getting conversions. I'm having a lot of click discrepancies between Peerfly, and Facebook. I'm thinking that maybe I just need to trash the whole angle, and demographic I was going after and start new.

Can you explain in detail where are you linking your ads? A facebook page that redirects them to offer page. I am just confused on this one. What about that app you mentioned. Please explain this process.
