CPA is "Cost per Action" or "Cost per Acquisition"

Typically it would be the same as getting a lead (CPL) or a conversion.

    For example,

If you're a publisher and my advertising offer is $1.00 per opt in that you get me.. when someone visiting my landing page converts and opts in to my email list, they have completed the action that I'm paying for. So you get the $1.00

    Make sense?

That's different from CPM (Cost per mille) which deals with ad impressions. Wherein, you pay a set amount for every 1,000 ad impressions.
