CPA - What is it to you?

I am curious to hear from you since we are all Internet marketers. Based on your understanding and your experience, what does the acroynmn CPA stand for? Here's a poll. (This is the first time I am submitting a poll on the forum so let's see if it worked correctly.)

    CPA = Cost Per Action

    You (we) get paid upon the end user performing a desired action.. zip submit, e-mail, free trial acceptance etc

    Peace

    I belive cost per action is more widely used because from the affiliate's POV all they have to do is get the customer to take an action to get paid.

    From a network's POV cost per acquisition may be a little more relevant since they are now getting leads from people, which means they are now possible buyers.

    Either one of the first two will work, but I have always use cost per action.

    Thanks for the great comments already. It is fairly obvious that cost per action is the most common term to use for Internet marketing purposes. I have to give thanks to Woody for his excellent comment,

    It appears to me that it depends on who you are explaining the concept to. Cost Per Action seems to appeal to those who want to make money online and Cost Per Acquisition seems to appeal to those who rather pay us to get them leads.

    I guess it is all in the mind of the recipient?

    It's interesting how many of us here know cpa means cost per action from an internet marketer's perspective. The reason why I say it is interesting is because if you enter cpa or cpa marketing in your favorite search engine, cpa will turn up the results for certified public accountants.

    Is that a failure on IM's behalf or is it just because cost per action is more widely understood than cpa?

      It's because the search engines try to return the most relevant results (in their opinion) for the keywords (search criterria) that you enter.

      If yo only enter CPA, more than likely, you are looking for a Certified Public Account. If you enter CPA Network or CPA Marketing, those are more specific searches.
