Possible to start CPA without spending a dime? Just curious..

Hey guys. First off, this is my first post and I konw your all going to think im a leecher of information but I'm not I promise!!!! I want to contribute as well as learn and this is my first step.

I just got accepted to Peerfly (beginners luck?) and I am VERY new to CPA offers but I get the gist of it. The point is to drive traffic to your offer and have them commit the action (assuming they are quality leads) and ultimately that puts money in your pocket. However, the methods behind the madness is so confusing I could puke. Correct me if im wrong, but....

1) Really, the BEST way to drive traffic is by spending money on traffic.. By spending money I mean getting lucky with PPC companies like 7search etc. Is this what people call a "campaign"?

2) I really don't have the time to invest 40 hours a week doing this (college student doing medical studies) so I would like to just have a small scale operation that I can monitor and work on. I have chosen youtube as a promoter of the offer product and then reference my blog/landing page from there. Lot's of people bite on free stuff on youtube (I used sharecash before and did about 500$ every 2 months.. not good but not bad for how little time I put into it). What would you guys reccomend doing in my case? I have read multiple threads on here and on BHW but I just don't get what everyone is doing. Is this basically what people do? Drive traffic to their landing pages and hope for a convert?

Thanks so much in advance. I promise I'm not trying to leech information I just want to get my feet wet. Anyone want to take me under your wing?

    Hey bud,

7Search is good, particularly for CPA offers but I would recommend PPV traffic sources such as LeadImpact & 50OnRed.

Traffic Source + Offer = Campaign

Basically, when you set up an offer on a traffic source like 7search, that's called 1 campaign.

It's hard to tell you where to start but if I could rewind back to the beginning I'd be joining a paid forum, joining a reputable traffic source & just set up campaigns + ask for advice.

    Good luck

That already clears some confusion up already! What about when someone says "scaling bigger". What do they mean by that? I figure when a lot of people say they are "testing a campaign" there are spending a relatively minute amount of money on their "campaign" to see if they get quality turnover. Then, if they see something they like, "scaling" would be spending MORE money to get MORE traffic? Yes? no?

BTW, How do I "thank" someone on this forum?

A lot of people will recommend PPV to you. It's a fantastic traffic source but in my opinion you should have a basic knowledge of how PPC works first.

Scaling can mean spending more on a campaign, or spreading that campaign to different traffic networks, traffic types, different streams, markets. Just about anything to get more traffic, more leads or sales or whatever it might be.

A campaign just means an ad campaign - typically targeted towards converting somebody for one specific offer (Often times people will rotate offers for traffic all directed/interested in the same niche).

When "testing" a campaign people are essentially keeping an eye on it, eliminating keywords that don't convert, adding some that might - "fine tuning" the campaign if you will. That's not to say it's a minute amount of money. Many people test 1-2x the offers payout but often times a decent testing budget for a campaign is $100-$200 and more depending on traffic source, niche, offer, etc. Regardless, they're also testing to see if it converts - there's so many variables that it's not uncommon to have 3-4 campaigns that don't convert before you find a successful one.

Having said that, it's a little luck, a little experience, and a lot of work. It's not as simple as just setting up a campaign and see if it's working or not. Before you do anything, make sure you know how to use tracking software to see which keywords are converting and which aren't. If I were you I would get setup with one of Peerfly's email submit offers with some tracking software on a 7search campaign. Get a feel for how PPC works before you move into anything else. Whatever you do though, don't skip out on the tracking software. It's one of the most important pieces of the process.

To thank someone on the forum, look under their post and on the bottom right there will be a little button that says thanks.

In regards to promoting on youtube, free traffic can be great, but eventually you're going to want to get into paid traffic. The saying "you have to spend money to make money" is so true - especially in internet marketing. With that said, you also need to pay attention to the rules about how Peerfly offers are allowed to be promoted - A lot of them usually won't accept traffic like that. There are other networks that you can use to promote products with youtube. You have plenty of options!

It's very important that you do the necessary research before starting this, but also make sure that you actually get into it and get your feet wet and really get a feel for the process.

Also make sure that you really take advantage of this forum. It's the best free tool for any internet marketer. Make sure that you spend plenty of time on here because it already has all the information that you need, you just need to do a little digging.

Hope that answers some of your questions and gets you on the right track! If you ever need any more help I'll help in any way that I can, just shoot me a message!

    1. Yes, this what people call a "campaign." There is no "best" ad network persay, but some good ones are Bing Ads, 7Search, LeadImpact, TrafficVance, Plenty of Fish Ads, and Facebook Ads.

    2. "Is this basically what people do? Drive traffic to their landing pages and hope for a convert?" in one way or another yes.

So the adverts you would put on sites like POF are to direct the viewer to click on them to end up on your 'landing page' which they would then have to input some information into, which in turn YOU would get paid by a company for that viewer inputting some info into....

      am i correct with this?

im trying to get my head around it

      thanks

    There's a reason it's called paid traffic

You definitely need a starting budget, even with 7search, but I wouldn't recommend using that source. Look into dating offers on FB or POF, running international mobile media buys, PPV. Those are more popular methods being discussed here.

So, there are different approaches to this..

In my opinion, first thing is first, I do not believe in a $0 based budget, i believe you can use free traffic, but there still are a few essential business investments. Bare minimum you will need a domain ($9.99/year) and web hosting ($9.99/month). Others may disagree, but IMO this is a must, without this you are going to take shortcuts that will end up with lost sales and losing money in the long run.

Second, to start IMO you need to pick between 2 different avenues.. Paid traffic (eg. 7search, facebook ads, pof ads, etc) and Free Traffic (eg. SEO, article marketing, youtube marketing, facebook fan pages, etc).. they both have pro's and cons, the long story short, paid traffic will be faster to get traffic flowing and the ceiling is much much higher. Free traffic will take longer and more work.

From here then you need to start picking your traffic sources, if you pick paid traffic - figure out if you want to do ppc, ppv, facebook ads, pof, etc. If you pick free traffic - figure out if you want to do seo, article marketing, youtube, etc.

You can obviously change as you get going, but IMO this is how you get started.

Good tips around here I'm also getting started in Web Marketing. I developed many websites for worldwide clients for this purpose and then it got me curious why will I not build my own. For sure I will spend also some time in this forum and reading posts, doing research and then I guess I will do some tests/investments in order to get started.

Good luck to all the newbies like US.
