Need some help according SEO

i have a client website and i m doing work on it and very scary from Google update ... i was doing work work at Directories submission but i hear a person that directories submission is spam work Google does not like this and count in spam ... is it true ? should i do work at Directories site for promote keywords or not ?


and what i use for keyword promote ?

social bookmarking ?

forum signatures ?

web 2.0 ?

press release ?

    Working on backlinking would be a better option than submission.

    Get back links and post quality content is the best place to start IMO.

    Get into link outreach. Start e-mailing web owners and see if you can work something out.

    Social media plays a critical role with SEO. How? Let's say you post something on the facebook page. And let's say that clients facebook page has a good amount of followers. And let's say out of those followers there's a decent amount with a blog or a website. So what do they do ? Naturally they decide to link the clients site on their site. If it's contextual backlinks on their site then that's great! However, that's ONLY if the clients site (the site you're promoting or doing SEO on) has any value. It's not like they'll want to link a crappy site or a site that's nowhere near in relation to their niche.

    You can also create web 2.0's just to gain more exposure. Create a Tumblr. There's a big community there.

    Blog comments are effective.Not directly SEO, but to just let bloggers know who you are and what your sites about. It could, in the future, build a community within the blog world. Just look at fashion bloggers for instance. They love commenting each other, and now they all link each others content and what not.
