Why to use a landing page? Just to make the process even longer?

There is a question that I answer multiple times a day and that seems to be the most "popular" one among people who are getting started with CPA:

"Why to use a landing page if it makes the process longer?"

So I decided to make a post here and help people understand why a good landing page is so important.

A few days ago I replied to this question with an example in one of the discussion groups I have on Facebook and I'll post it below...

Let's say that I want you to buy a training program from me. Then I put up an ad on FB and you click on it. Since I want to make the process as short as possible, instead of sending you to the sales page I send you straight to Paypal to make the payment. Will you buy?

It's the same thing when you are promoting a CPA offer. Sending people directly to a general page that asks for their personal information probably won't work. First, you have to talk to them and give them a good reason to complete the form. Do it and they will be way more likely to complete the offer.

What if i do this

Traffic- Opt-In page- E-book download

Inside the e-book i will sell the product that i'm promoting without overly promoting it. Does this method works?

It can work... the idea of the post was to show why it is important to pre-sell the offers, but, yes, there can be ther routes, having a traditional landing page is certainly not the only way to do this.
