Facebook Opengraph Search Scrape and Teespring Name Shirts

Ok guys! I just want to warn you to never ever scrape Facebook Opengraph search for names for Teespring name shirts. I just learned the hard way. It's against Facebook TOS. They deactivated my custom audience. Fortunately, they did not deactivated my account.

I still wonder how some names shirts on Teespring sold more than 500 pieces. I'm sure they're using Facebook ads as well. Not sure how they target their audience without creating a custom audience.

Why aren't you using UIDs to target the ads?

Remove duplicates from the list and upload as data file.

There is a way around this, but its's all too risky and playing with fire IMO.

Plenty of ways to get around this, but it's not worth it for me to keep using people's angle to sell.

Because if you try your own angle and they work, you can scale them into long term scale and always be ahead

hey guys can FB recognize and restrict profiles from accessing a fanpage?

I have twice scraped UIDs from a particular page around a month back but now when I tried searching the page name on FB and GOOGLE I couldn't view the link. Where as on Page data pro the page I'm looking for is still listed and the fans have increased so it's very much active. Also, whenever I paste the page link on browser it directs me to FB homepage.

    Any clue on this one?

    Thanks

I scrape UIDs for customers on a time to time basis. I never came across such a situation. Sounds strange.

There is a way to ban you from the group and if banned, you can not see the group too. But, I do not think this works the same for pages.

I still upload UID's for my custom audience. It sometimes doesn't work with other browsers. Try Google Chrome. Facebook power editor works perfectly on Google Chrome.

You can still use custom audiences and upload by UID, but they're starting to crack down on audiences where the bulk amount UID's are targeted toward a specific NAME or AGE

Well, I have a custom audience that was just targeting women that liked a certain page, and it got denied. I don't know what's going on. I'm figuring they are just shutting down custom audiences for teespring ads.

Or maybe it was the "women" part of it? I have no clue.

If anyone has any idea what's going on, it would be great if you would reply to this!

p.s. Is social lead freak the way to go? I read on the last page of comments on their wso that their product was not working anymore? At least that's how I took it.

            Thanks everyone in advance!

From my own experiences yes, custom audiences and teespring will get rejected. If you have your ads pointing to a separate domain and then 301 redirect it AFTER it's approved, that seems to work fine.

I used a scrapper tools a few times. Now my graph search is disabled eg when looking for "fans of a page xyz" I get no results even though there are a few thousand likes on the page. I can get graph search results using a different account though.

Custom audience wasn't banned. Be careful guys.

I believe custom audiences still works for some niches. I have scraped UID's of doctors, and they are still working until now. I believe what's prohibited is to target names and birth years in your custom audience. I tried creating 3 custom audiences targeting names and they were all rejected after a few days. I was lucky Facebook didn't ban my account. I used interest targeting since then which works pretty well as well.

I didn't target names. Just UIDs & my graph search stopped working. Yesterday my graph search works cos I showed a friend. Today it didn't work. Guess that FB is testing different ways to prevent misuse.

IMHO, the correct way to use target audience is targeting fans who already "liked" your page or uploading an email list that you collected from your site. When they are fans, the FB app I use shows all the UIDs. Furthermore when you create an ad, you can easily select your fans in the options. I couldn't select other pages not managed or created by me during ad creation.

These would be people are you allowed to use target audience without issues.

It may work if you didn't target names. But I believe scraping the open graph search using a software overloads the servers of Facebook. Perhaps that's the main reason why it is against Facebook TOS. They might have disabled the opengraph search feature in your account. I was using a dummy account before when I scrape UID's. I never scraped UID's using my personal account.

I'm sorry to hear that man. It happens. That's the reason why I keep on reminding our fellow warriors to just use interest targeting. Facebook has been improving the options in interest targeting lately and I think it's very beneficial.

Anyway, just open a new Facebook account. I got 1 advertising account banned before for no apparent reason. I just opened a new account and moved on.

P.S.- You would need to use a new credit card for your new account. You CAN'T use the same payment methods associated with your banned account.

        Globalexperts,

I'm not on facebook now but this idea of scraping appeals to me. I'd like to get into it but ...

        1. I want to get started but I'm afraid that I'm such a newbie on facebook that I'll trigger something and get myself banned before I even get off the ground.
        2. I like the idea of setting up a fake account and working out of them so if I make a mistake, I can just set up a new account. I did this with Google Adwords for years.
        3. I hear facebook is much more aggressive at catching fake accounts than Google.

Globalexperts, You seem to know how to do this. Can you offer any advice for me?

        Thanks,

Custom audiences can still be done in other niches. It's only not allowed to target names and birth years. In my experience, those types of custom audiences got rejected after a few days. But I do have custom audiences targeting dentists and surfers, and they still work up to date.

Don't you get a bunch of weird fake profiles liking your post when you do regular interests?

Before I started scraping users and using custom audiences, using just the interests section would give me high cost per click and low CTR, theres no way interests can be better than custom audiences

I don't think Facebook will send fake traffic at all. It's not like 2nd tier ad networks who have different publishers where some publishers may send fake traffic. In Facebook's case, the traffic only comes from them.

Try harvesting UID's, then converting them into Facebook Emails using Social Leads Freak. Next, create a Custom Audience using this email list and ads should run.

      Hi there ppcmanager :
The method you described seems to be the exact way to go for me.

I was just wondering a few days ago if converting id's to emails would allow me
to stay under the radar ....
Maybe scraping very targeted and high profiles id's and create a similar audience based
on this list would be a good solution ?

Do you have any advice about email list size or numbers ?
Do you still use your main account or another one to upload those emails ?

Have you already find any problem with fb uploading those emails lists ?

      Thanks a lot

Picasso1011, could you explain some of this a little more?

create FB accounts to target names
      - Profile or Business?

      burn them.
      -
Not sure what this means. Are you saying you delete the accounts, or are you burning the names to a CD or something? If you are deleting the accounts, when do you delete them - after how many ads? What if you have a campaign that's working and you don't want to delete it?

      create new ones.
If you mean, create new accounts, how do you do it without getting banned?

      I do it everyday.

      dont do direct linking.
I often test an ad briefly using direct linking. Will facebook ban an account for direct linking, or just shut down the ad?

      Thanks

It's possible to create multiple Facebook accounts. However, you CAN'T use the same payment methods/credit cards associated with your banned account. So unless you have hundreds of credit cards, just avoid getting your Facebook account banned...

    ok
create FB accounts so you can target names, last names..age for teespring
by burn them I mean...once facebook find out they will banned your account.
    no big deal.
    I create a new one.
I have a site to send my costumers and from there they go to teespring.
I can Create new accounts on the daily basis.
my bank gives me a temporary credit card number so I dont have to use my real credit card.
this way Im using a real credit card with different number every time time i create a FB account.
where theres a will theres a way.
