Technicalities (Tracking/PHP...etc) is my biggest problem

Hi guys,

I'm in the midst of starting out my first ever PPV campaign. I've already been accepted by most major CPA networks as I had been wanting to commence my CPA journey very much earlier.

I had purchased some WSO and even had coaching done by one of the most respected CPA marketers (William Souza) out there. His coaching gave me a very good idea on what exactly CPA is all about. I've picked up several marketing tips on creating good landing pages, what to look out for in terms of targeted audiences as well as copywriting.

I've decided to move on to PPV instead of CPC as I feel more comfortable and confident in that area. I'm almost reaching my minimum deposit of $1000 with Lead Impact.

However, I realized that I know nuts about Tracking as well as the technicalities of it. I understand that tracking is the one of the key on whether you will succeed or fail, whether you will earn less or earn more and most importantly, whether you will loss more or loss less trying different campaigns.

May I know if there is something or somebody that I can go to obtain the relevant information? I'm on Warrior Forum almost everyday and I see people talking about PHP, SubID...another example is a question by a fellow member on this thread.

http://www.warriorforum.com/ad-netwo...rosper202.html

I understand the whole theory of CPA and PPV, just the part on the technicalities of it. Basically tracking means to know what campaigns are working and what are not. I just need to know how do I go around inputting the information and utilizing the data to help me out.

Thank you guys! Have a blessed day!

If you are having issues with setting up your tracking you are not the first, someone already went trough the same thing in fact im sure thousands of poeple went trough the same doubts, this means maybe someone made a video resolving this issue, you can find on youtube videos of users setting up campaigns along with prosper202 or CPVlab

As an example im a MAxbounty affilite but i have no idea how to set it up or sync with prosper, then i go to youtube and type: Maxbounty + Prosper202 (thats how i learned, im a visual learner)

most surely you will get results with instructional videos made by the same affiliates

Just replace Maxbounty with your Affiliate netwotk (hopefuly maxbounty, Clickdealer or other top rated affiliate network).

Make sure to check on Metacafe and Vimeo aswell

      Hi,

      Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I've gone through tons of video on Youtube (Will check out the rest of your suggestions) and start learning the curve by trial and error.

I'm sure there isn't a perfect 'Guide' or 'Solution' as the situation itself has too many variations...Maxbounty+CPVLab+Leadimpact, Peefly+Prosper+DirectCPV...

I just hope that by trial and error, I will be able to pick up details and fine tune on how and why what was supposed to happen did not happen.

Also, I'll be joining Affplaybook soon as well (Sigh...was late to do so...membership fees have almost doubled). Have got so many questions, but I don't wanna impose on anyone.

      But thanks again!

      Have a blessed day!

I've taken a look at a few forums including StackThatMoney. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Affplaybook be considered as forum that focus more on PPV? I would love to hear your input on StackThatMoney. Perhaps it'll give me a different perspective before making a decision.

      Many thanks!

If PPV is the direction you wanna go right now i think Affplaybook would be good for you, never tried them by myself but i knw the focus more on PPV and develop tools for affiliates, on the other hand i just to had STM membership, it was $99 or something , but the info is pure gold, most of the members are regular thread starters, this forum would be great for you if you are more into mobile offers or paypercall and stuff i think

Anyway remember to test for yourself, and good luck

Did his training not cover how to setup tracking? I am not familiar with his course but that's arguably one of THE most important steps in the whole process.

      Hi Christian,

William's training did talked about tracking, specifically the fundamentals. However, I'm really keen to pick up in-depth knowledge, like LP rotation, PHP...etc...basically the works.

I agree with you, that this is one of the most important steps in the whole process.

Of course, other factors are important as well, LP, targeted URLs, nature of campaigns...I wouldn't say that I'm a master at marketing, but these can be learned in the process. Whether or not your style of marketing is working, why is this LP doing better than that, only by tracking, can you come across the data for you to analyze.

Tracking is also the key to minimizing your testing budget losses during your campaigns.

Ahh...well the easiest way is to learn by doing. Install P202 and click on the Setup tab and walk through all the steps it outlines. It's pretty simple. The big thing is any data that you can pass along from your ad network do it through the c1 - c4 variables.

Example, I have a campaign running on adwords right now. Adwords sends all the clicks to this URL:

        http://www.domain.com/?t202id=286&t202kw={keyword}&c1={creative}&c2={ifC ontent:Content}{ifSearch:Search}&c3={placement}&c4 =AdGroupName

All those bits of code that are surrounded by { and } are variables that Google will autopopulate.

        Breaking it down:

t202kw={keyword} - this passes the keyword the user searched for on Google when they clicked my ad

c1={creative} - this is the ID google assigned to the specific ad

c2={ifContent:Content}{ifSearch:Search} - If the user was on the search network this variable gets set to Search, otherwise it gets set to Content (meaning they were on the content network)

c3={placement} - This is essentially the referrer, but Google shortens it to the told level domain. This is useful because Adwords lets you block domains for your campaigns, so if I get 500 clicks from a domain with no leads I will block them in the campaign.

c4=AdGroupName - This I put in manually, I set the name of the specific ad group because I have several running and this makes it easier to track for me.

Now once some traffic goes through and assuming the conversion beacon is setup, I can do all kinds of stuff with the data.

Here is that specific campaign filtered by the c2 variable (in my case that identifies the Content/Search network):

This is the Group Overview report, you can filter your click data by all the C variables, the keyword variable, referrer, and a bunch of other useful metrics.

That shows you I'm getting 30% less clicks from the Search network but it is converting significantly higher than the Display network. At this point it's all about looking at the data from different angles to figure out what is working and what isn't.

But the key is to make sure you don't jump to the wrong conclusion.

Looking at my Adwords account I can see that the clicks from the content network are costing me $0.40 on average, whereas the search network are costing me $0.81 on average.

Display: 397 clicks, spent $158.80 to get 6 conversions, or $24.47 cost per conversion.

Search: 221 clicks, spent 179.01 to get 12 conversions, or $14.92 cost per conversion.

Looking at that some people would argue that the Search Network is the winner.

Except in this case I'm making $40 CPA so I'm still clearing a profit of $16ish. It's not as great as the $26 profit I'm making off the Search Network, but it's still decent. I'm quite happy with that since it requires none of my attention to keep this campaign going.

Numbers and stats are great, but you have to make sure you aren't misinterpreting the data too.

I hope those who experienced difficulties like me can find your post and learn something from it too!

      Hi Watchmaker,

Thank you! Another great tutorial source for my learning purpose!

I noticed that almost everyone starts with prosper. But I've also heard good things about CPVLab and Bevomedia.

Of course, Bevo and prosper are very much recommended because they are free.

But does paying for CPVLab really make your life so much better as compared to free sources?

CPVLab has some extra features that makes it really stand ahead of P202, here's a few that I'm a big fan of:

It is way more user-friendly. When you setup P202 you have to spend a bunch of time clicking around trying to figure out what to do. CVPLab is way more intuitive in getting things started.

It has a campaign optimizer module which will basically look at all your click data and make recommendations on changes to make. This is brilliant and it's very well done. Furthermore, if you are using multiple landing pages I believe it gives you an option to let it turn landing pages on/off automatically based on this data which is absolutely awesome.

It's basically makes it easier to manage your campaigns. Is it necessary? Absolutely not. But if you don't know alot about statistics or don't feel comfortable looking at a big table of numbers and how to interpret the data, they take that out of your hands and do it for you.

          Hi Christian,

To be extremely honest, I'm really torn between starting with Prosper even though it is free. If I can get a little head start with all the tracking data nicely packed and placed in front of me, I may be able to read the information better to analyze my campaigns.

I think I will go ahead with starting with CPVlab since it is something that will save me time and headaches.

Do you happen to know of any sources to train and learn about CPV lab?

          Thank you in advance!

Honestly, if you are just getting started, IMO save the money and just start with a free solution like prosper202. This will get you learning the basics behind tracking and everything.

Once you start making money, then maybe consider upgrading to cpvlab

      Hi,

I do agree with you. I'm sure when you get CPVlab, you will be glad that you did. I can see that for someone like you, who already have the skills to navigate prosper, moving to CPVlab is a dream come through.

Basically, you are driving a Toyota now and you are intending to move to a Mercedes, which will make your life better.

For me, I don't have a driving license yet, so moving to a Mercedes immediately will still pose the challenge of learning how to drive in the first place.
