CPA HELPPPP ANYONE??? PLZZZZ

OK, SO ...I am stuck. I have an Affiliate account and I sent out some offers. EVERYONE I sent it to has told me that they gave their information. It was an insurance offer (LIFE) for a free quote. So far only ONE person I sent it to has the company called. I contacted my Affiliate Manager, and he said that the only thing he can think of is that maybe to people who submitted their information didn't qualify for the offer!?!

At this point I am thinking...WHAT????

I say, how can you not qualify if all they ask is your name, number, weight and if you smoke?
(you don't want to know the answer)

Then I ask..Well how can this be, the person they DID contact is a smoker for 30 years???? And the others basically don't smoke and are healthy, and you would think this is the kind of people the company is looking for. They don't make any money when their clients die right after the insurance is purchased right???

So it ended up that he was not concerned that this company was not contacting my leads. And I only got credit for one lead and the rest was EPC. I know for a fact that even if everyone was less than honest w/ me, that at least 5 people DID fill out their information with true and correct names and numbers... but NO contact. Is this normal and how should I approach this? Clearly my AM thinks there is a "good" reason why my people are not getting contacted by the company. I feel like maybe I am getting cheated because they know I am new to this business, however, I do not want to cause any waves either. Any suggestions??

I would switch to a different offer if you are convinced that all of these people did indeen fill out the info and you didn't get paid.

Not really a whole lot more that you can do.

What network was this? If it is one with a good reputation, you are probably not getting taken advantage of because of your newbie status...

What were the offer requirements? Even if they just ask for name, number, weight and if you smoke, they may only be looking for leads from a specific country, etc...

    What do your stats say...

Since you are being paid for leads, it shouldn't matter if the company calls or not. It is only your job to get them the info...It is their job to close the deal

Also, scrubbing is a huge part of the CPA game...everyone has to deal with it

If you had 11 clicks and all 11 filled out the offer, it wouldn't surprise me that they made some of them "disappear"

Has a company ever done that to you?

It is maxbounty and it reads 11 clicks.. 1 action and my EPC rate is going down. I don't understand that either. And I am positive that these people did indeed, put their correct information down. It was an offer through email, and it said that solo emails were allowed. Only in the usa but that is all I sent it too. This is my very first campaign so I don't know. A couple of days ago it had 7 clicks w/ ZERO dollars. Showed I still had no payouts at all!!! And I thought the same way too, as far as the lead and the sale was concerned.

Maxbounty is a reputable outfit, so they are probably not ripping you off...

Ok, then why do I have 11 clicks and only 1 action? I am positive the 5 filed out the correct information. So why am I only getting paid for one lead? Also, why is my EPC going down instead of up w/ every new click???

    Hello Robin,

I can definitely see your concern... And its a bummer this happened to you on your very first campaign! Don't think that CPA is always like that but every once in a while you will come across an advertiser ( or network ) that shaves or scrubs leads like this.

First of all... I don't think you understand what EPC means... Its kind of confusing at first.. When I first started I though it meant how much money I was going to make just for getting someone to click the link no matter what! lol

EPC is an estament of how much money you will make per person that goes to your offer based on your stats. For example, if you have 100 clicks to you offer, and you have maid $100 then your EPC would be $1 because so far you have had made $1 for every person that clicked on your add. Now, if you had 100 clicks and you had made $1, your EPC would be $0.01. If you look at some offers, it will show you the average EPC before you promote the offer just to give you an idea how well it is going for everyone else ( You can get EPCs specific to different marketing types from your AM ( affiliate manager)). Lets say the average EPC for search for an offer is $.50... That means other people doing search are making $.50 AVERAGE per person that clicks on there campaign! This will tell you that you should be pretty safe if the keywords you want to bid on all cost $.25 per click ( in theory )... Remember this is an estament. The reason why your EPC is going down is because you are getting more clicks... if you have maid $100 off of 50 clicks your EPC is $2.00... If you have maid $100 dollars off of 51 clicks your EPC is $1.96. I hope that helps!

Now, about the leads that were shaved or scrubbed. #1- You should promote a different offer. Just so you know, the advertiser ( the people who own the offer ) have the ability to scrub those leads... Not all of them do. Also some affiliate networks shave leads for increased profit... Not all of advertisers will do this. Maxbounty has a pretty good reputation. Just like Jeremy said above, you should defiantly promote a different offer. What offer was it? There is not much you can do at all about the leads that were lost. This is not a normal thing.

I know your a beginning so this is a bummer ( Its a bummer for anyone ). But one thing you could learn from this for the future is this... If you are going to promote an offer, lets say it is life insurance... Take 2 or 3 life insurance offers and set them on a redirect that will rotate through all 2 or 3 of your affiliate links for those offers ( this is very very easy to do and I or anyone could show you how ). Then after you launch your email or ppc campaign or what ever, you will see that one of them maybe converting much much better then the others.. so after you know for sure... You make it so all your traffic goes to that one offer that is doing well, that way you maximize your profit.

This may seem difficult or confusing or just a hassle... Put it can make a big difference!

The very first day I maid money with CPA was with an email I sent out to my friends and family for a life insurance offer!... Probably like you did?... I had 3 people do it for a total of $32 dollars! That felt really good!

Anyways.. I hope that helps a bit... Just change the offer, some advertisers scrub like that... most don't.

Just so you know. And most people don't realize this... But just because an offer is on another network, or is simply another offer on the same network... It does not mean it is a different offer... Of example, Hydra has about 20 different DEBT offers, well all of those offers are actually owned by around 4 different companies!... And most all the debt offers on other networks are from those same companies as well. So if you pick a new life insurance offer make sure it is from a different advertiser or your results may not change very much! The way to tell if an offer is from the same advertiser or not is to look at the Terms of conditions, contact us, and or privacy policy pages ( normally at the bottom of the page )... They normally do not change those pages... You can also look for a phone number or address on one of those pages, even if they change those pages, there mailing address or phone number will probably be the same. You will be able to see patterns in those pages.

Don't let this scare you... Most people that have been working with CPA for a while have never even had to think about this! But if you find an advertiser that you want to stay away from like you have, then you want to make sure you don't just promote another one of there offers!

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks,

    Micah Rush

      Micah,
Thank you so much! It was a real bummer and yes I sent out the offer to family and friends. I have heard from many people so far that maxbounty is reputable, that is why I am so confused over this? Do you think I should push this issue? Or perhaps let it die down? I am also approved w/ click booth, but just trying to get familiar w/ their platform as it is a bit confusing for me. I am sure once I start using it more and more, I will understand more and more but honestly, I am a little overwhelmed with all the information and the "terms" I am seeing around. One thing I can say is, I love this forum!

        Hello Robin,

Merchants have many rules in place to determine when a lead is valid (payable) and when a lead in invalid (non-payable). Some of these rules are clearly laid out in the campaign and describe what type of data the merchant is looking for. For example, 18+ only, females only, full survey must be completed, etc. Other rules are not described at all and are used by merchants to weed out fraudulent activity. They do not outline these rules because they do not want to educate those affiliate who choose to defraud them.

Unfortunately, someone saying that they filled out the offer does not mean they passed all the rules put in place by the merchant. When this happens, the surfer can't tell the difference as to whether or not they were a valid lead, but the affiliate who sent the lead (you) doesn't get credited.

The fact that the insurance company only called one person who signed up is a clear indicator that they felt only one person you sent was a potential lead for them and you got credited for that one lead. The other 10 people were rejected by the insurance company for one reason or another, and that's why you weren't credited.

Hey Robin, yes this forum is very nice!

I don't think you should push the issue... Maybe just seem curious to why they did not convert when you know they did because it was family or something like that if at all. That will probably be a good thing, and I think you have already probably done that. I think you should let it die down and just move to another offer.

Remember, it is probably the advertiser not the network.

Ya, clickbooth seems so unorganized. But, they are using the same platform that most networks are using... Direct track.

Can you tell me what offer you were promoting? I may have ran the same one in the past or know one that would work much better for you.

Have a very large family and list of friends...

      Sorry, couldn't restrain myself.

My advice is to do what the OP did:

Start small and test in a controlled manner.

      Regards,

      John
