Minimum size VPS server I will need for PPV

What is the minimum size of VPS server I will need for PPV. Not at all sure how much of anything I will need. There are a lot of sites out there with all kinds of sizes and prices. Can someone get me in the right ballpark.

Thanks

If you google you can find a 50% coupon for the first 6 months. So that's only $25.

If you can't miss that kind of money you better not start with paid traffic but save first some more money.

Thanks a lot for that info Drazz. That is just exactly what I need to pull this off. If I can't figure it out in 6 months it would be time to try something else. If I can figure it out then it would be no problem paying for their VPS.

Quick search found the 6 months coupon. I will just verify it with BeyondHosting and get started.

          Thanks again

If you'll be running a tracker on your server as well, I'd get something with at least 2 processor cores. With the bursts of traffic you'll get on PPV traffic, your tracker will be making just as many database writes. This is pretty taxing on the processor, and a single core has very little headroom. Load times will inevitably get higher as the load increases, and you'll be losing more clicks/money because of it. 2-4GB of ram should also be enough to start out with.

Always keep an eye on your server load as well when running campaigns, and you'll know if you need more or less resources. I use a free program called HTOP to monitor my servers in real time and see the load while running campaigns and load testing.

One with 2 cores is $65 at beyondhosting. I was about to get one with 2 slices and 2048 meg ram when I decided to come here and check first.

I am wondering if I could get away with the one with 2 slices if I was using a smaller network like adonnetwork to get myself started and learn this stuff. Maybe I could make some bucks to afford the beyondhosting VPS. If I had to start off paying $50 a month it would be really challenging financially.

How much money do you really plan on crushing into the offer? VPS servers are for like 10,000-100,000 people being on your web page at once. I use simple Professional Web Hosting from HostMonster shared server for our offers.

You mean by keeping my bids low? I guess that is the only way I could control the traffic like that. PPV can get large blasts of traffic I am told.

I was looking at a VPS with 2 slices and 1024 meg ram per slice. It was $6 per slice and $10 for Cpanel. So $22. I guess I could go 3 slices and up it to $28. This is with Interserver. I have their shared hosting and find they are excellent to work with.

I would really like to be able to go with something lower priced like you are suggesting. I am also going to have to use Prosper202 as well for tracking unless I can find something cheap to get me over the hump and making some bucks so I can invest in better equipment.

I have a fried motherboard in my desktop and am using my roommates laptop while he is away. I hate the thing, small little keys and I screw up typing all the time. It has some password program that keeps logging me in as him all the time. Driving me crazy here.
